After riding E.T. so many times, my family got alittle nutty on giving names on our interplantary passport. It doesn't work. But we all used the same name once to hear E.T. say it 6 times over. Half the time it is too hard to hear E.T. say your name. Anyone else notice this?

I think ET doesn't pause between the names. That's the problem. We went on twice. The first time our car was full and we couldn't figure out what the heck he was saying. The second time it was just me and my boyfriend. We got there early and nobody was even riding yet. We could clearly hear ET say our names, but he does it fast.:D

Once last November ET said the names clear as a bell. I used George and Et said " Bye George".
Last few times the names weren't distinguishable.

We've always done that! The first time they didn't have our names (believe it?)
so we used names like Bertha, Ethel, Ester, Henrietta, etc. Oh, the stupid fun we've had!
But you're right, sometimes you have to strain to hear the name, and it sounds like a computer saying the name, so it sounds distorted.

My theory is that one syllable names come out much more clear. You can always hear my husband's name (Steve), but hardly ever the rest of us (Tonia, Chandler, Tatum). So we usually have fun by making up names, my son feels like he is doing something really naughty!

My vague impression is that that the names were fairly easy to hear and understand some ten years ago.

So which is falling apart? Me or the ride?

(Careful how you answer that!):p

I know that I'm falling apart, Kelly! Sometimes it even seems like ET is slumping his shoulders when he mumbles.

We got on ET in march first thing and as it was not too busy we heard him say goodbye this time with our supposed names

My husband likes to do that, too ~ it is amazing what it takes to get an educated man to relax and have fun!!

ET can say over 6000 names. Sometimes they're mushed into one name "Toniastevennate". but he says them. Also, those at the computers are encouraged to pick a name if a match isn't found so he doesn't say "friend." Also, spelling doesn't matter to ET. Catherine, Kathryn, and Katherine all produce the same result. :p

And whenever someone said their name was "Spongebob" to me, I entered "Speedy". ;)

The first time that I went on E.T. about 6 years ago I heard him say my name plainly. When I went on it a couple of months ago I told the girl my name was Penelope but she said it wasn't in her system so I said shorten it to Penny. We couldn't understand what E.T. was saying at the end, it just sounded like he was gargling. LOL

The first time we went to USO was about 6 or 7 years ago too. The first time we rode the ET ride my DH gave the name of Aloysius! The poor guy looked at him....and asked him to spell it. That had not occured to DH ~ that he would have to spell it. They worked it out together and, much to our shock, ET said it perfectly!! My DH was real excited about this. We RAN back into line and he tried to come up with another silly name. The next employee was not so amused. So, we rode it several times with ET calling DH 'Fred' because he liked the flat, monotone way it came out. We sure had fun with ET!! :Pinkbounc
