Crazy last-minute WDW trip idea.. need Advice!

My best friend from high school and I are taking a short girls-only trip to Florida in two weeks. She is going through a divorce and we decided "the girls" should take advantage of great air fares and go visit my aunt in Sarasota. We'll be staying for free!
Here's my thought... she loves WDW as much as I. In fact, she and her soon-to-be ex took their DS last summer. We're both on tight budgets, but I thought I could surprise her with a one-day, one-night trip over to Orlando. What do you think? Where should we stay for one night? I really would want to stay on-site.
I have never booked a room-only.. just packages.
Any advice is greatly appreaciated!!

Truthfully I would just pick where you could afford to stay for the night. Might be fun to live it up or if you are only needing a place to sleep the ASR would be good. No matter what, have fun

For just one night Id have to vote for either All Stars or Pop Century one night usually runs less than 100-

We just planned a last minute trip. We decided to stay offsite. I got a room rate of 27.95 at one of the bargain motels on the main strip outside of the maingate, and we gathered up how much we could spend on this trip and it is not alot, but it will still be fun. My son has been wanting to go for his birthday for a while and I think he is really going to enjoy it. It is only a 4 day trip, and we budgeted 200.00 a day, we'll be eating cheap, with the exception of a birthday dinner at Chef Mickeys, and we have AP's for Universal and we'll get one day passes for Magic Kingdom. It won't be our most expensive trip (we just had 8 days at the Poly last Nov), but we'll still have fun. This is my son's trip, and he's excited and ready!
