Okay so I was planning an intimate at the boardwalk for Oct 05. Then my brother and his girlfriend decided that they want to get married next year also. Realizing how expensive it would be to travel to two destination weddings, we decided to do them the same week in Disney. After a week of planning on two seperate days, we are now thinking "What the heck, have one wedding". Sounds crazy I know, but it seems so much easier. I would never ever consider this with anyone else, but my brother's fiance and I get along extremely well and have very similar taste. We like pretty much the same colors, flowers, locations, and even have the same idea of how the ceremony should be (short and sweet). Are we nuts? Should we really do this? What does everyone think?

Oh yeah, and I just got back from my site inspection. It was great. When I get a chance to load all of the pictures, I will share some of the various locations. Always nice to get a different view than the limited pictures we share.

My first wedding was a double wedding with my sister and her DF. Needless to say, since I am getting married again in a couple of months, my marriage didn't last. Now my sister (who has a very happy marriage) has a bunch of pictures and a very expensive wedding video full of my ex-husband. I also think my divorce was really hard for them because it truly proved that if it could happen to us, it could happen to anyone. My point is, when I went into my first marriage, I never thought I could be divorced. Now I am and I feel sorry for my sister because her happiest day was now a day I would like to forget.

On the other hand, our double wedding was a great experience while it was happening. I won't discourage you not to do it, but please think beforehand what you would do if everything doesn't work out in the future. Good Luck with everything!

We're getting married October 5th at the Boardwalk too!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

The idea does sound like it could be a lot of fun and very memorable, but I suppose it just depends on what is important to you. Part of the reason I'm looking forward to my wedding day is because it's the one day that I get to *be* the princess, rather than just always feeling like one ;) I want it to be a day that's just about me and my honey because how many times will that happen in our life? I don't know, it's probably completely selfish of me, but this is one thing that I wouldn't want to share. However, if it were a few days apart, or even just one day apart, that would be really cool and memorable, too. That way, each wedding is individual and is about each couple. If you were totally comfortable with it, I would say go for it! But if you have any doubts, I wouldn't do it, your wedding day is one of the most important days you will ever have and you don't want to look back with any regrets! Whatever you decide, I hope that you have a beautiful wedding day!

I dont know... I say go for it! If it wasnt your brother, I would be iffy about it, but b/c its your brother, and you are close with his girlfriend, I say what the helk, why not! If my sister got engaged and wanted to get married at the same time, I would definitely do it! It would save cost, and let you use the extra money towards other fun things. You will have plenty of pics of just the 2 of you, and it will be nice to have pics of the 4 of you! It is your choice, but make sure you really want it, before you agree to it! Good Luck!!!

Well you're a less selfish person than I - honestly I couldn't have done it - I really wanted to feel special and the most important person in the world on my wedding day and the only person I was willing to share the limelight with is my hubby. BUT LOL I'm just a spoilt drama-queen and this is my personal opinion ;)

From a complete outsider's point of view I think it would be a wonderful selfless act :)

well there are pro's and con's you & h2b along with your brother & his wtb should look at before you commit. there would be a savings on costs and it could be a very memorable event but there are also the drawbacks of future issues (regrets, divorce) or disagreements in major wedding decisions/choices. but as long as you agree on all these key issues (vows, location, who walks down the aisle first or walk together, readers, officiant, in laws input, music ceremony/reception to name a few). as a guest i would find it a sweet touch to have a double wedding. but as for me personally i wouldnt share my special day (once in a lifetime event) with another bride/groom besides me & h2b i'm to picky and find my wedding to intimate, personal to share with another limelight. just my personal opinion. however i would consider a shared week destination wedding if i loved/knew the couple i'd be sharing (ie: my wedding tuesday, his wedding thursday) then your guests are still saving on travel expenses (just 1 instead of 2) and you could share a rehearsal/welcome dinner to save on some expenses if you choose. * i hope whatever your decision, you have a beautiful wedding!* i would love to hear your final decisions on this too.

best of luck!

Okay. So I think we are going to go for it. I agree with all of the things everyone said. I would never even consider sharing my wedding day with anyone else. Since it is my brother, and I get along great with his fiance, I think I can do it. Divorce is not a concern. It can happen to anyone at any time. My fiance and I have been living together for six years. Even if for some reason we split one day, I will still remember our wedding day as a happy day. Thanks for all of the advice!!!!!!

Just a thought..always make sure you have pictures separately! Then, if someone wants to rip up a bunch of pictures one day   then you can and you'll still have a few to look at!
