Crazy hotdog Gatorland question....

I've read you should consider bringing your own hotdogs to feed the gators (cost savings over their charge for hotdogs). What kindof hotdogs to most resemble the ones sold at Gatorland? I think a post mentioned turkey dogs so maybe the gators are watching their fat intake...........

LOL are you kidding ...watching their fat intake..They give them out of code hot dogs better known as garbage. I have seen the boxes they come in. Just go to Wal Mart and get the cheapest hot dogs they have. I think they are like 65c per pack. I do not wave them around when we bring them in but discretely put them in a belly bag. It would probably cost you like 7.00 for the same amount you can bring in for 65C . Compared to what they are eating...it will be like Hagaan Daz.

Is Gatorland good? I have always thought about visiting.

I haven't been but I have boys that are all boy so I think they will enjoy it. I'm also going Mem weekend and want to stay out of Disney parks b/c of the crowds so thought this would be fun to try. You seem to travel in Feb, a great month for Disney or US/IOA parks but the gators might be somewhat inactive during the cooler months. But if you've always wanted to try it...... its not very expensive.........

When we took our own hot dogs to Gatorland several months ago we were told it wasn't allowed. We had the option of throwing them away or putting them out in the car. The employee watched to see what we did.

Save some aggravation and just buy the overpriced ones they have at Gatorland.

WEll we have done it for years and no one seemed to care. Boys love Gator land it is a one day attraction but you can leave for lunch and then come back in the afternoon. My son loves it and he loves to have his picture taken with the gator and snake as well as the boa.

I had read about it here on the DIS. When we went the gentleman wasn't very nice about us using our own hot dogs. If it worked for you then I am glad. I am just warning others they may be stopped. I wouldn't want it to ruin someones day.

I live close enough to go all the time, for others this may put a damper on their day.

When you buy them, do they come in a cup or something? Wonder if you could compromise and buy some but also use some of your own. Would they be able to remember how many hotdogs you bought to know you are supplementing?

WE have done that but they only come in a white piece of paper kind of like they pick up your donuts with at a coffee shop.
