We're going with my family to WDW at the end of October. Am I crazy for thinking that I may be able to get Beach Club or VWL at 7 mths out for that time? I'm wondering if we should book SSR and then change it later if we can get either of the other 2 places.

I don't think you will have a problem. but it is always wise to reserve your home resort just in case something strange happens and you can't get the resort you want.

At least you will have something.

just made a reservation at BCV at the seven month window without any problem, and have not had problems in the past....unless you travel during christmas week or easter week.

Actually, you will run into the Food & Wine Festival at the end of October, so BCV may be tough to get. If it were me, I would definitely reserve at my home resort and then try for one of the others at 7 months.

Good luck :)

In addition to the F&W Festival, MNSSHP will be held at that time. WDW can be busy then! I agree with dznymom1 about reserving at SSR--just in case there's nothing at either VWL or BCV.

What is MNSSHP? We are also planning an October trip and I was wondering if this is something to be concerned about or something to look forward to. Thank you.

I was able to book a 1 bdrm for nine days mid-Oct, at the 7 month window without wait listing. It was a wonderful trip! Lot's going on. The golf tournament is also at this time of year. Oct. 21-24, 2005, I think.

As others have indicated, you might want to make ressies at SSR and then switch at 7 months so you won't be homeless!!

We just tried to get BCV for June 3-10 and it was booked solid - no studios, no one bedrooms, no two bedrooms. Buy where you want to stay.

Wow, Deb&Bill, I am sorry to hear that. I am also a little surprised because so many schools are still in session at that point. I have never been to WDW in June, though, is that when they have Star Wars, could that be why at 4 plus months no luck? We try next week to switch our end of August trip to BCV at the 7th month mark. The woman I spoke to last week said it looked good, there were lots of studios left at that point. Fingers crossed.

boston1029 Good luck with trying for BCV for your October trip. I think you might have a chance but I agree with the others. Book SSR first so you def. have a place to stay. Have fun and good luck. :sunny:

hoping this morn to finish up our BCV switch from VWL for end of Aug
so far I have switched 5 of my 6 (this morn is for a Sat)
I did book VWL at our 11mo window just in case

I just got BCV 2 BR at the 7 month window for mid-August. I had already booked my home resort at the 11 month window, just in case I couldn't switch. We decided to split our stay so we can try new resorts because we'll be there for 11 nights.

Always book your home resort early. You can switch the reservations if they are available, but if they aren't...at least you have somewhere to stay.

Last year I made a ressie for October at our home resort, VWL, and then switched to BCV at the 7 month mark...no problem. This was also during the Food and Wine Festival and MNSSHP.

I have booked SSR (1 bed) for Sept and hope to switch to OKW at 7 months.

The booking will be a bit odd, 4 nights in a 1 bed followed by 5 nights in a 2 bed lock off then 7 nights back in a 1 bed. We hope to keep the same one bed the whole time and just open the lock off for the 5 nights our friend is there. Does this ever happen or will be moving rooms twice? I know nothing can be guaranteed.

Back to the switching resorts theme, shall I wait until 7 months from the end of the trip to book the whole shebang? Could be complicated to tie it up if I do it in sections.

Hope this made sense

get MS to link your reservations so when the room controllers start to assign rooms he/she seems them all.

then when you check in at the front desk - mention your wish to stay in the same 1-bedroom the entire time.

no guaranteeds - but you have a better chance this way.

It's not so crazy for resorts to be busy early in June. The schools in the South pretty much get out 3rd week of May. The seniors a week before that!

Is it easy to just switch over your reservation? Thanks for all the input.

We just tried to get BCV for June 3-10 and it was booked solid - no studios, no one bedrooms, no two bedrooms. Buy where you want to stay.

Be sure to use the waitlist if you cant get your dates. I called last week too, to extend our stay BCV and was told no availability for June 5-10 so I waitlisted. Today I got the call from MS that my studio at BCV was available.
The waitlist has always come thru for us and I think it is more important than BWYWTS when it comes to changing your mind like I always do. :worship:

Star Wars Weekends
Flower & Garden Festival
Gay Days
Many southern schools already out for the summer
Only 4+ mos out

Not surprising, IMO. "Buy where you want to stay" is all well and good, but it doesn't mean spit when you're trying to book under 7 months.
