We have been to Disney several times. We mostly go at Mardi Gras or in the summer. We have never been at Thanksgiving - but are going this year. Are the crowds as miserable as they say? Does anyone have any advice?

I think it all depends. We went last year at spring break and heard it was the worst time to go, I guess in my head it was going to be nightmare crowds and then we get there and had the best week. Even my dh enjoyed himself (and he thought our 1st trip would be a nightmare!). We are going the day after Thanksgiving and expecting some crowds but expecting to have an awesome time. Maybe we'll see you there :wave2:

Are you going for the whole week of Thanksgiving week? We went last year the Saturday before Thanksgiving to the Saturday after. It was great crowd-wise in the beginning of the week but by late Wednesday got very, very busy. We didn't plan to go to any parks on Thanksgiving Day, spent the day instead touring the hotels to see the Christmas decorations which was wonderful. Friday we did go to Epcot for a little while thinking it would be the least crowded park but it was still very busy.

We are also going the week of Thanksgiving. Saturday to Saturday. I will be our third Thanksgiving there. I feel Disney is always crowded, but the cooler weather makes it more enjoyable. :cool2:

:goodvibes I will always adhere to the idea that it is all in the planning. Whether you go during the most, or least, crowded time of year - if you arrive early, prioritize which attractions are most important to your family in advance, and plan meals at the 180 day mark so that you can breeze right up to your breakfast/lunch/dinner reservation with little wait, then you will have a blast -regardless of crowd levels.

Ask any questions that you have, someone on these boards is bound to know the answer. Remember knowledge is power. Be prepared & then go and have fun. We have been 2x during Thanksgiving, if you like sit down meals, than my advice to you is to make your meal reservations through the dining line at exactly the 180 day mark.

Restaurants are packed Thanksgiving week, but if you make Advance Dining Reservations for each day, than you will be assured a great sit down meal without being turned away. We tried to book a dinner for a night that we had not originally planned to dine out, and I am not kidding - there was no sit down restaurant on Disney property that had an opening. And we were booking during the morning for an early, mid or late evening dinner. So the next time we booked lunch & dinner for each day, and were always seated within 10 - 15 minutes of our reservation.

We go the Friday after Thanksgiving through the following Saturday. That first weekend is quite busy. But once Sunday afternoon comes around...the crowds drop right off. I love visiting at this time of year! It gets us all in the mood for Christmas. We have 94 more days till we leave!!!!!! WooHoo!!! :cool1:
