Crazy Fares NZ-LAX!

No it's OK. We booked another stop over in Sydney. Actually I might double check that... I know I asked her to, but I still think she was pretty useless.

I couldn't book the stop over online, so I had to do it over the phone. I could have used a travel agent, but previous experience with them has shown me they tend to take over a week to get back to you.

Oh that's alright then. I thought you meant you hadn't bothered with a stopover on the way back.

DH didn't have any trouble booking the stopovers online, but he did only try with Qantas, so maybe it's different with Virgin. Glad you got there in the end :thumbsup2

I agree, from my experience, TAs would be less than useless at booking these types of fares  We had enough trouble for our last trip just booking simple direct MEL-LAX fares!

Bah! The God Damn Numpty didn't book my stop over for the way back :furious: Good thing I checked. So it's going to cost me another $200 :( It's still a savings, but it's eating into it.

Oh well, easy come easy go!

Sorry, just using your thread to vent :rotfl:

Still on the phone with Virgin trying to sort this nonsense out. It's not $200, it's $200 each :scared1: Which is ridiculous. So I'm hoping that I will be able to cancel the last leg before we fly, and still keep the price.

Alternatively she said I could request at check in at LAX that our luggage not be checked through to Auckland, but it's not guaranteed... :confused3

Working the system is too much hard work!! :lmao:

Yeah it wasn't the stop over as such that was adding money, it was the fact that the flight on the following day cost more :sad2: Doesn't matter, we'll work it out.

I was about ready to get on here and b*tch about how useless the woman from Virgin was. She couldn't tell me I'd there was a maximum number of days allowed for a stop over. Then she was telling me that each leg of the flight had to be booked separately, and a heap of other stuff that really infuriated me. I was about to tell her to put me onto someone higher, when I decided to just get the price for what I wanted and it came back at roughly $950 each!

I put her on hold called DH and he said to go ahead and book it. So I came back to the Virgin rep and gave her the go ahead. I almost thought it wasn't going to work when she muttered something about an error coming up, but it went through and now we have our tickets!

We've now got to decide when we want to fly to NZ and how long we want to stay for. So far our dates are:

16/10/14 Auckland to Sydney
14/02/15 Sydney to LA
07/03/15 LA to Sydney
09/03/15 Sydney to Auckland (however I'll cancel this flight when we touch down in Sydney).

well done you.....DVC????pirate:
