Crazy crowds on 10/6 - why???

DW went to DL and DCA today with her sister, and they say the place was insanely crowded and it seemed that DL was unprepared for it, i.e. understaffed. Any idea why this would be? Perhaps an aftershock from the weird hours yesterday for the Miley Cyrus event? (BTW, we were not thrilled to be awakened by 11:20pm fireworks.)

Welcome to FALL BREAK! Many AZ schools have this week off, and many many people head to DLR. Next week/weekend will be just as bad and potentially worse because of Utah's break. October has become one of the busiest months at DLR, I'm totally baffled why DLR has yet to realize this and prepare staff-wise and extend their hours.

That's right! My DD is a sophomore at Occidental College (near Pasadena and Glendale) and they have Fall break next week. She's bringing her room mate, who happens to be a big Disney fan, on Monday to DLR.

Not to mention that the week of Oct. 20, the Ventura School district has a fall break. I know that a lot of Venturians will be heading to DLR that week. We are going for three days. I have noticed more and more crowds during the month of Oct.

Sure, some schools just started, but not all. Everyone isn't on the same schedule. DD's friend in AZ went back on Aug 11 this year and yes, they're on a traditional schedule, not year round.

I was wondering if attendance might be off this year due to economic worries, but it sounds like not.

ITA with DangerMouse. October used to be one of our favorite times to visit the parks, but not anymore. You might get lucky and pick a good day, but it's just as likely that you'll pick a day when the parks are slammed.

We happened to hit an ugly Oct week a couple of years ago that I swear was almost as bad as the week between Christmas and New Years. Really!

A lot of Utah schools started school on Aug. 18. So, my kids are ready for a break. They will have been in school for 2 months. However, we will never go to DLR during their fall break. Waaaayyy tooooo many people. We did it a couple of years ago and it was insane!

We are in Nor Cal and my DD's schools just started fall break this year and it is THIS week. Almost everyone we know is at DL right now. I think the schools have started doing this to avoid more students being taken out of school (in which case the school looses money) to go on vacations.

I work for a school district in Idaho and there is no fall break here. I am not sure about the year-round schools, though. I WOULD love to have fall break!

I've decided I'm gonna tell my boss that I can be reached at DL for Fall Break, Winter break, Spring break, Summer break, every weekend break, Full moon break, new moon break, Tuesday break, etc...

Nowadays with multi-track schools there is always some set of kids that are out of school!!! Good for Disney... Bad for people looking for low crowds! Even the economy won't keep people away from DL! Not everyone has investment portfolios and people aren't afraid of credit card debt! The only thing that could keep these people away is gas prices, but now with oil trading at $88 we can expect to see the gas prices drop and those people who put off their vacations this summer because of $4.50/gal gas may now make their summer trip this fall now that gas is back in the mid $3 range! But thats just my guess!

This is probably the 5th or 6th time in the last couple of months that someone has mentioned DLR being VERY crowded on a non holiday Monday. Fall Break or Gay Days aside.....is Monday becoming the new Friday afternoon/evening??

Also, if anyone visits DLR today, please report back & let us know how the crowds were (& at what time of day).

Hound you posted a reply a couple of weeks back in regards to someone asking what days of the week were least crowded and you mentioned a Monday being one of them...I replied to your post that it hasnt been like that for quite a while....Fri-Mon. are typical weekends for people now...moday being as bad as friday...the only thing I havent figured out quite is why Sunday is not always as crowded as the other weekend days...working on that one....
