OK, so with all the hype, I had to DVR that Extreme Couponing episode to see if I could see the accusations. Not sure if I picked up on it or not. Did she really do something wrong? If so, why did the store not pick up on it? My store NEVER misses a thing with coupons. :confused3

Mine either. I even had them not take a coupon I had for 1 off 2 bottles of juice because the coupon pictured a sugar free version of the same one I purchased. She definitely between the TLC show and her videos of her shopping at Target used coupons that were for other products than what she purchased. There's never been coupons of the amounts she used for the products she bought (5.00 off Windex??) No...Windex makes 5.00/off coupons for their outdoor product that retails for 14.99 or so, but not for the glass cleaner she purchased that normally retails around 3.00.

She's trying to do alot of damage control on her FB page, deleting comments and trying to flood it with her few supporters but she's not keeping up with the amount of people who have called her out. She tried to turn it around onto Jill Coltaldo saying it was all a group effort to bring her down, but that has seemingly backfired as well and now she's keeping mum.

I really hope to see some news story about this lady coming to light in the next few days and being investigated and charged with fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud.

That's just what I mean. I would NEVER purposely use the wrong coupon, but sometimes I have to dig through my basket to prove that I bought the right thing the coupon I have is for. But to do it on MULTIPLE items is so wrong! :scared1:

The thing is that some Target CSMs allow the wrong coupons to go through. I have watched a Target CSM here manually override coupons for the wrong item as well as coupons that are not manufacturer but rather other stores' coupons.

I had to call corporate and fight the local Target over the LPS coupon back at Christmas time and in the end I went to the next town with a Target to buy what I wanted to buy. The CSM even argued with me over the coupon and said I got lucky when it went through on the other LPS items.

:scared1: :scared1:So sad. I hate when I get such a hard time from cashiers sometimes but now I KNOW i will get questions even when I am being honest. Some people give all couponers a bad rappirate:

I've had a problem where I've bought an item with a coupon and the register recognizes it as being for another product. If I have a coupon for the other product also there is a problem. I had a coupon for free pasta sauce and a coupon for (I think it was dog food). The dog food coupon registered as being for the pasta sauce so there was a problem getting the free pasta sauce.

I found it really odd that she caked on make up and wore tight boots so that she could "look rich." She didn't look rich to me. And it is a stinkin' grocery store, who cares what you look like!

But take my opinion for what it is worth....I don't care about money nearly as much as I care about class. You can wear your old paint shirt and carry yourself with class or you can wear a $300 dress and not carry yourself well at all.

i just have a question about this couponing thing.. I watched it.. and I was fascinated.. however, alot of items that she bought were perishable.. is it really saving money if you get 25 things that will perish in a span of weeks or months? I can't imagine having that much stuff covering my house even if it was free..

Do you mean refrigerated items? I guess I missed that. Maybe she freezes them.

We freeze a lot of things if we stock up during a sale.

Alot of people have asked this question and my personal opinion is the store let it go because the TLC crew was filming. A store manager appeared to be watching the transactions and I suspect he told the cashier just to let it go. As I recall, the register froze/crashed because her total was over $1,000? Then the cashier had to enter the coupons by hand - if she had scanned them I bet most of them would have beeped. There simply wasn't time, in my opinion, to do the right thing and question the coupons. I can just imagine the film crew saying "keep rolling, etc etc"

Do you think that maybe they played that up in the editing process? I mean, I know a lot of women who will not leave the house without making sure that their hair and make up are done and they would never dream of walking out the door in an old pair of sweats and a hoodie. Not even to go to the kindergarten pick up line where they won't even get out of their car!

Maybe.

I just think there is tasteful make up and packed on/caked up make up. She was the latter. It looks low class to me, so the effect was opposite of what she was going for.

I watched the show last night, and saw her buying 77 bottles of mustard. I'm not sure that I will need 77 bottles of mustard in my lifetime, much less at on time. It just seemed like the whole extreme couponing is almost like hoarding, there is no way they could need that much of a product. Maybe those people will be on the A and E show "Hoarding, buried alive", next.

Agreed. Her make up was heavy but maybe her skin isn't very good. Bad skin does not film well.

I completely agree! It made her look SO GREEDY! I hate when I go to the store to get a good deal and someone CLEARED the shelf! That is just RUDE! :headache:

I think that's why most stores put a limit of using 4 "like" coupons at the store.

I have the show DVRed, but did not watch that close, I am at work and I am curious! What did she do that was wrong? Was she using illegal coupons?

The allegations are that she used manufactures' coupons for more expensive items to purchase less expensive items made by the same manufacturer. For instance the Windex window cleaner is about $3/bottle (even less when on sale). But she didn't use a coupon for the spray bottles of window cleaner, she supposedly used a higher value coupon ($5 off) that was intended to be used to purchase their outdoor power washing unit.

There are codes on the coupon that don't match the coupons directly to the item but rather, match it to the manufacturer. In some stores, the computer only looks to make sure that you purchased *any item* from the manufacturer with a UPC that matches up to those codes. What the bloggers are accusing J'aime of doing is intentionally taking advantage of this glitch in the store's computer system to defraud the manufacturer (not the store) out of the value of the coupon. It's an illegal practice and she apparently has been called on doing this in the past.
