Crazy Change of Plans - - - Help please!!

Hi everyone!

Sooooo... We originally had plans to go from September 26th-October 4th. We were going to stay at a 2 bedroom deluxe at Wyndham Bonnet Creek from 9/27-10/4 (landing on the 26th and staying at a cheap hotel near airport that night). Cost was under $800 and deposit was made...
Unfortunately, my poor wife's work has this same exact time for the biggest event of the year. All hands on deck, no excuses, no chance to get out of it. We HAVE to change our plans.

While we really love the look, feel, and especially price of Wyndham - and the fact that it is 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and kitchen (we plan on having several meals here to save money), this sudden forced change of plans is making us see what else is available for our revised stay.

We are now looking at plans for a stay 10/10 - 10/18. Looking for at minimum room w/ kitchen, close to resorts (we are renting a car, so need to factor in parking), and WOW factor. I know DVC points can be bought, but are we correct that a 2 bedroom w/ kitchen at a Disney resort is way more than $800?

Since life has given us Lemons... Hoping all you wonderful people will help us make a happy batch of lemonade! It may be that Wyndham is the best way to go (really love all the reviews and info!), but want to do a final check with everyone to confirm.

A 2 bedroom with kitchen at a Disney resport is around $600 a night. I'm guessing your budget of $800 isn't per night, thus I would rule out staying on property unless you want to camp in a tent at Fort Wilderness.

There is no shortage of good accommodations off-site, however. You can look on ebay for WBC and other timeshares around your dates. You will likely find the most availability if you check in on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. You can also check out skyauction and redweek, plus you might find a vacation home under your budget.

We're staying at Windsor Hills in a condo. It seems quite similar to Bonnet Creek. I can't easily share the pricing since I'm converting to Canadian dollars. But it's around $85 a night, plus cleaning and tax I believe. I don't think I'm allowed to include the link, but search "Florida Sun Luxury Resort" on VRBO or message me and I'll send you info.

Yes, $800 is the budget for the whole stay, not for a night. Maybe one day we will be able to afford $600/night, but that isn't this trip!
I looked into the Windsor Hills - They are really nice! It may be because we were so set on Wyndham, looked into it so much, been thinking of the lazy river and the firework views from our balcony... It just seems more difficult to change venues...

How about this -

- More than a 1 bedroom "standard" hotel room
- must have kitchen/kitchenette
- must be wheelchair accessible (wife is in a wheelchair)
- must be under $1000 for a 8 night stay
- must have great pools, outside activities
- "nice/good" restaurant onsite
- firework views?

Those are several things why we thought Wyndham Bonnet Creek was great. Anything like that?

If you google (or maybe someone can provide it) there is someone on here who has a link to a ihg friends and family discount here on the Disboards. Orange lake is an ihg property and would check off most of your list. Not sure about fireworks view though.

Orange Lake would fit this bill.....We have watched the fireworks from Disney often. Lazy River, 7 pools, water slides, hot tubs.

Another vote for Vacation Village - no lazy river (yet), but some units do have fireworks views. Great location Hwy 192 / I-4. Close to restaurants and grocery store. We have stayed several times and my father is in a wheelchair (make sure to ask for handicap accessible room).

all timeshares (which is what WBC is) have handicap accessible room. they have too. there are several - you need a highrise to see the fireworks- Silver Lake will work and is very, very close to WDW - at least the AK. Westgate Villa will also - but this is a last resort - these people try to sell you a timeshare and they will kept trying.

with Vacation Village at Parkway - you must contact an owner - otherwise you will be told that you can't have a firework view - those are only for some owners.

You could also check Groupon. Lots of places in Orlando underdestinations and some nice deals to in October. One of them is mystic
dunes which we have stayed at and enjoyed. Lots of others too.

Check Ebay for timeshare rentals. You want an 8 night stay and usually timeshares are for a 7 night stay. Since you are renting a car, maybe you can do like myself and many others do and stay in a regular hotel for your arrival night and check into your timeshare resort the next morning. I haven't looked at your dates but I am assuming it is a Friday, Sat, or Sunday check-in. You could also join TUG and look at rentals offered. Another source to rent from is Redweek. Redweek and TUG have a membership fee, but Ebay is free. Don't panic, there are plenty of options. I am going from 8/18 to 9/2 and I just booked my resort the other day!! I used TUG and scored a last minute Orange Lake Resort rental. My point is, just relax, you have PLENTY of time. Have fun with the planning part. It's all part of the vacation too.

Thank you everyone for all the advice! From looking at all the comments, it looks like we will reserve a room at one of the other resorts and see what the prices do as we get closer to our departure date. It looks like we need to spend $100 a ticket to change flights - but maybe we can get a 7 night stay at Bonnet for $700? Hoping as we get around 30 day mark, we might find that kind of deal?
For ebay, it seems that you just ask the seller a question? Does the transaction have to be through Paypal? We are hoping to use a credit card that has travel insurance built in, then pay it off immediately with savings. Paypal - if something happens - seems would not have this built in. Anyone do it this way? Again, thank you everyone for all the information!!

Have you looked into Reunion Resort? I know they are part of the Wyndham program. Although we are not part of the Wyndham vacation rental program we have stayed at a couple of their resorts through vrbo (vacation rental by owner website). We have stayed at Reunion in a 3 bedroom, 2 full bath, full kitchen, laundry, living room on 4 separate occasions at Reunion and LOVE it! I know they have elevators and units could be wheelchair friendly (we stayed in one once) Perfect for our family of four.

It is about 10 min drive to Disney right off I-4. Some restaurants onsite but many a 2 min drive away. Pulix is across the street.
