Can I just do a happy dance here and now? 
I moved to Portland from the SF Bay Area 9 years ago, and Crate and Barrel is pretty much the ONLY shop/store they don't have up here that I miss from CA. Well, I was shopping in one while I was visiting family in CA over New Year's and as always, I filled out a comment card saying, "PLEASE consider opening a store in the Portland, OR area" and the cashier said, "Oh, your wish is already granted. They're opening one up sometime this year!" I jumped up and down in the store, grinning from ear to ear. I confirmed it by emailing them at their website and they said, "Yes, Fall 2004."
YES! I know I can order via catalog or website (which, trust me, I have), but it's not the same as being able to wander around the store and finger stuff.
