I know there are cranes around the Castle right now to put up lights but does anyone know how long they will be there? We will be in Disney Oct 14-20 & going to MK on the 17th & 19th & am hoping they won't be there. I thought I read the dates somewhere but can't seem to find them anymore.

If the cranes are there that long, it will only be because they are holding the castle up to keep it from falling.

I heard through the end of September. We are leaving on Saturday for the WDW, and our first MK day is October 1st and I'm really hoping that the are indeed removed by then.

We were there last week, and a CM we spoke with said he saw the castle lights on, presumably to check them, in the early morning hours as he drove to work Friday. That might seem to indicate that they are near done, and the cranes should be gone by your vacay.

This is the first time I have seen a mention of "cranes" (plural.)

In the past, it has only been ONE crane, and it is (generally) not visible during the day.
(They lower it out of the way on the Fantasyland side of the castle during the day and primarily
do the work on the castle after-hours at night.)

Is there something different going on this year?

It was definitely visible last September when we were there. Don't remember how many there were but I do remember a big ole crane next to the castle our whole trip.

There are two cranes. One for the castle lights and one working on the Fantasyland expansion. The one for the castle lights has been up during the day. However, I noticed it was gone during the past two days. The one for the Fantasyland expansion is sometimes seen and sometimes not. All depends on what they are working on that day.

So, past info that I mentioned is still correct.
There is only one crane working on the castle, and it's not "up" on most days.

The other crane (Fantasyland) is not part of this situation and can't be predicted.

Just trying to keep things in perspective for future reference.

Pretty much. The crane working on the lights was up all last week. I can't begin to tell you how many people asked me to PhotoShop the crane out of their pictures. ;) Also, there were no fireworks during the Dream Along With Mickey, because the castle crane was up and people were in a basket working on the lights.

Yes, the Fantasyland crane is hit and miss. It will be in one family's picture but gone by the next.

People were in the basket during the parade last Thursday! The crane was up both days I was there last week (tues and thurs).
