Karen, how funny you said it but Heidi WAS making the blanket UNDER a blanket. I was soooo nervous about parasailing but I am so happy I did. I would love to do it again.....not to put pressure on you or anything. I love all the shows that Heidi listed. Those are must sees.

Marcie. guess we can get through this Christmas together. I know I have my ups and downs. Sometimes the Christmas songs make me cry and then sometimes I listen to them to make me get in the mood. Come on Marcie. You can parasail. I know you can. If I did it anyone can. Everyone on that thread was calling me Nervous Nellie. Now that I have done it, I think that I could enjoy it even more knowing I lived through it once already. :rotfl:

JrsyBoy, if you want to remain a stalker to Heidi, we just won't invite her. :rotfl2: We are hard to make dates with as well so that is why I thought that AFTER the holidays might be good. I tell you, someone is always running into the light rail. What's :confused3 up with that? Like it is so small and quiet.

Sandy, we did my bosses gift basket earlier. All of us are in the library watching him open all the gifts and we are all laughing and having fun, just like Christmas should be. And, then I walk out and have these emotions wash over me and I just want to cry. Everytime I am happy about Christmas, the sadness follows.
Well, at the beginning of this year, during tax season, we lost one of our CPA's. He was waiting on another kidney transplant and my Dad had, had a liver transplant. They both had a lot of problems. He would always ask me how my Dad was and my Dad would ask how he was. He was always so happy and brought a lot of good times to our office. He passed away in March and it was so weird because then in May my Dad got sicker and died in June. They both lost a fight that they had been having for years. And, then of course the hurricane too. So, after my boss opened his presents he said, how much he was glad this year was almost over and how bad of a year it had been. We always get our Christmas bonuses at the party but none of us are expecting one after losing 3 weeks of work with the hurricane. So if I do get one it will be a nice suprise. The bad thing is, that is usually what I use to buy Christmas presents, so things will get a little tight. But, I just told Dane if we don't have our cruise paid off in time, we will just move the trip to later.

I am so partying on New Years Eve :rotfl2: Next year has to be better.

Hey, I need help. I was going to make a salad for Christmas and lost the recipe. It is a jello salad that has melted red hot candies in it. I believe it was cherry jello. I don't remember anything else. Does anyone have a similar recipe that they are willing to share?

Is this it?

RED HOT JELLO

1 Pkg. cherry Jello
1 cup apple sauce
1 small can of ginger ale
1/2 cup red hot cinnamon hearts candy
Combine and heat ginger ale and cinnamon hearts until candy is completely dissolved.

Add the jello powder and remove from heat. Once it cools, stir in the apple sauce.

Might not be around much this weekend so I wanted to tell everyone to have a great weekend. Will try and check back in but no promises. :grouphug:

You too Sandy... oh Sandy baby!!!!!!!
Hey BTW is the jello recipe good?
Seeing Santa today! Baking and decorating gingerbread cookies. I will post in also!

Hi, ladies! Sorry I have not been around much this week! It's been a doozy!

Marcie- I am with you on the next year being better! We've all had a tough year. It's sad when you lose people close to you. It's weird how they passed away close to each other- like they agreed to help each other pass over together.

About the New Year-There's a Polish saying "Nowy Rak taki, Nowy Rak, jaki"- Basically how you spend New Years Day is how you will spend the year. Like with what people, or in what mood, etc. I will be on DCL, so I hope that saying is right!

First, my mom's gallbladder was infected, inflamed and gangrenous, thus if they had waited any longer, she might have died as the gangrene spread. Thank God, she's doing much better. The other thing was that when they removed it, there were thousands of little stones and several spilled out so it took an hour to make sure no more little stones were inside her body. But, she's home.

Second, I my boyfriend and I decided that it would be cool to decorate the house to surprise my mom. We told my dad, and he said just don't do the tree yet (for several reasons, such as my dad's party on Fri) and we said ok, we actually bought some other things and started as soon as we came home from work on Thursday. My SIL's aunt dropped off my nephew bc I had to babysit and my aunt came home and helped my bf bc she had had hte same idea to decorate. It was looking really nice, when my SIL came to pick up my nephew and her and my brother were shocked at the house and said THEY had come here to decorate. I don't know what was said but somehow she and my aunt got into a fight. They left. I was upset because they were yelling at my nephew a lot and since they were upset it was like it was getting taken out on him- a 2 year old. They were so rough with putting his coat on, etc. The baby was actually almost throwing up. My SIL is so jealous of how close I am to my nephew.

Anyway, my dad's birthday was yesterday and we had a party, so I cleaned till 1 am that night and everything looked nice.

Third problem comes- my brother who is a firefighter who teaches training classes for firefighters severed his finger. I freak out. We later find out- it was just the tip of the finger (the third joint) and he had emergency surgery to reattach it last night. They don't know for sure if it will "take" but we're hoping.

Anyway, my house is crazy and since my mom's in bed here, I am making all our Christmas cookies w my boyfriend. We usually make like 12 kinds, but I'm making 5. Have to cut back.

So, ladies, I m glad you are having a good holiday season and I hope for the best for each of you. I will be back on later today!

Lulu, how nice to hear from you. But, gosh, all that is going on with you is just not fair. Hugs. Gangrene?? Sorry to hear about that. Then you poor nephew. On top of that, your brother. Good grief. I wish you the best of New Years!

I am around the house because hubby got called out again to snow plow. Looks like this volunteer position might be a pain in the you know what. Just can't get anything done.

Forgot to add a note to Karen. I have never tried the red hot jello. It just sounded good. I looked everywhere for the red hots and finally found them and then forgot where I saw the recipe. I think it is time to have me committed. lol

I'm pooped. Did all my wrapping tonight and tons of laundry. I think I want to go buy one more gift and call it quits.

Shhh Heidi, I think I have more presents for you than anyone. Oh oh.

Anyone have any good easy appetizer recipes for Christmas Eve? I bought a choc fountain so I think that will be one of my contributions. It was a 50.00 fountain that Heidi found on sale for something like 14.00. Nice.

Guess I will go to bed now. Was thinking of everyone and thought I would check in. Hope everyone is having a terrific weekend. Stay warm, we are trying hard to do that here in CO.

Good morning funky monkeys!

Lulu, it sounds like you really need your vacation. I am sorry that you are going through so much craziness right now. I sure hope your Mom is recoverying alright and your brother's finger takes. Yes, that is my feeling, weird as it is. I didn't voice this until after my Dad passed, but when I told him that AJ passed I just got this weird feeling that he knew he was going soon. At the time I felt guilty for telling him because of the way he reacted. He sounded so down. And, I was angry that he would worry about that and not spend his time living. I really just didn't want to believe I would lose him.

Sandy, I did all of my wrapping yesterday!!!! Aerial was not home yesterday and wanted to see some presents so I took that opportunity and wrapped everything. Now my tree is full of presents. I am done shopping too, just waiting for one more to come in the mail. Now I can work on my scrapbook some. :flower: A chocolate fountain sounds soooo yummy. And, what a good deal. I have been tempted to buy one myself, but we aren't having much of a Christmas get together this year. I am still making my one appetizer I make every year and probably cookies. Here's the recipe:

Totrilla wraps
Flour tortillas
a box of phili cream cheese
packet of hidden valley fiesta ranch dip mix
soften the cream cheese and mix in the dip, stir it up until it's all mixed and then spread over a tortilla. Wrap up the tortilla and then cut into bite size pieces. Serve with picante sauce to dip them in.

I made these one year and now every year Dane's Mom makes sure I am making them. Monday at work we are all bringing something and I am bringing those. So I am going to make up 2 batches today. A lot of years I make Gumbo for Christmas (yes I am cajun). But this year Dane wants steak. So I decided to make the Gumbo today for a get the party started kind of thing. So I will be in the kitchen all day long.

About my office party. I had a blast. Some people left after dinner and I wish they would have stayed. It was so much fun to let loose with the people I work with everyday. We can't socialized like that at work. At dinner I drank a Calypso Cooler, it had rum, peach schnapps, orange juice & grenadine in it. It was okay but I much rather strawberry then peach. Then we went to this bar that had a live band. They were playing 80s music and we were all into the music. It was great. I drank a couple of Malibu & pinapple juice here. Very Yummy. We decided to have our last drink at the martini bar. It is so nice up there, the first time I had been. I had a chocolate covered strawberry martini. It tasted like ice cream. Very yummy. It had tequila rose, baileys, & dark godiva liquer. Dane says he wants to stop off there next time we go to dinner out there. It was a very nice quiet place for before/after dinner drinks. :drinking1

Okay I am off to the kitchen I will get back later. :wave2:

I have a very funny feeling my DH may have bought a chocolate fountaine also... he got something at Bed Bath and Beyond I think, and he says it is for "the family"... well, 3 of us are watching what we eat b/c the cruise is getting closer!!!
I had a great weekend (I go to work today). Yesterday we decorated gingerbread men and guess what? My DD and DS made a gingerMICKEY!!!!! I am going to send the pic for Heidi to post!!! It was so fun when they gopt done and let me see!!! After that we went and got a ride on the firetruck with Santa. He came to our neighborhood.Alot of the men in the neighborhood dressed like elves (they do this every year) and one of the elves passed out!!! When I asked my younger DD what happened? She yelled back "Elf down!!!!". I laughed about that one when Iknew he was alright... too much smoke exhaustion I think they said.
Anyway, that was the first this year the GD got to see Santa and he had a gift for her.It was a kids cosmetic bag.... you would have thought since I have her all the time, I would have examined this little bad before purchasing it!!! Well, I didn't know the polish was real!!! And also, my couch glitters!! OH well. At night DH took us to a place that is FILLED with lights, but by the time we got there DGD was asleep, so we decided to go back on Tues (my next night off). I will bring all 4 kids and the granddaughter and we will go together. Well, that is it. I will talk tomorrow! Hopefully there will be a pic on here of my mickey gingerbreadman.

Good morning all!!!

MArcie - glad you had such a great time at your party.

Mom - if you read this before you get my message, what are you doing this afternoon? Can I come over and finish the blanket and get your opinion on the pants I bought this afternoon when Chris drops the girls off? Call me.

Funny, that is what I bought for the "family gift" this year (although it was at DW's suggestion, usually I come up with something to surprise both of them). Saw it in an ad for Linens N Things but when I went there, they didn't have any in stock and had given out tons of rainchecks. I ended up buying it online.

I have a favorite appetizer that isn't too difficult. You know how everyone who does a bread bowl always seems to do spinach dip? I have a dip that is made with cream cheese, sour cream, salsa and cheddar cheese. You put it in the bread bowl, wrap it in foil and bake it for 1 1/2 hours. It is always a big hit.

The fountain sure looks yummy~I will just have to watch it.. and that is if he even got it (I am guessing). Isn't it weird how you never hear of something and then all of a sudden everybody has one?? Cool. I have marshmallows that would taste great covered in chocolate... also pretzels... and I would like to try the potato chips in chocolate.
Also, that dip sounds great. Can you give details? How much of what? I just may do that.Man, I am late for work, Gotta go.

That sounds so good, maybe I will bring that!!!!! I always make different varieties of wontons and the favorite cheese and pineapple, but that dip recip would top it all off good.

Here is the picture of the little boy that thinks Santa is Heidi Claus.

Karen - I am working on posting your pictures, but the website says it cannot find the server so I will try later on.

Pooh_Friend#1Karen - I loved the banana boat ride said:
I also had a ball on the banana boat ride. You must wear goggles and sit up front. The front is the best!!! But if you do not have goggles you will have to close your eyes alot and not be able to enjoy the ride as much. IT is a must for me for now on to do the banana boat ride.

Oh this board is acting up big time.

Will try to post later.

Hope everyone is fine.
