My cruise Report....
Wednesday we left the house at 3:00 to fill the tank with gas and to hit the road. Mac had to go about 20 minutes out of the way to get a special Monster Energy Drink which put us leaving or hitting the highway at 3:30. On our way back to the highway Erik and my dad passed us and wanted us to turn around and come back to the store we had just left. I told him if he really needed us to we would but otherwise I did not want to come back. I did feel guilty since I had not even seen Erik all day long and would not see him until we returned. Ihad a time frame in mind that we needed to leave in order to miss the rush hour traffic in Concord and Charlotte. If we had backtracked we would have been in Charlotte in prime time rush hour. As it was we did not really hit much traffic. We hit some rush but we were not in a big town so that the traffic was ok.
I had in my mind we would drive to Jacksonville to the Baymeadows area. Which is the otherside of Jacksonville. Jeff wanted to go on farther. Well we hit Jax at 10 and it is a good thing we decided to go to the other side of Jax or farther because of the ongoing road constrction. I do not think they will ever be done. We have yet to drive thru there and they not have construction. Jeff did drive us to Daytona which a bit over an hour away from Jax. Mac was in the backseat and I was in the passenger front seat. We were texting one another about how Jeff would not stop driving. I think I called him the Energize Bunny...he keeps driving and driving. Of course Mac literally laughed out loud. Mac and I had such a good time on the drive down. We would text or when Jeff would get out say something. Needless to say Jeff felt things were a bit "girl" sided. lol When he figured out we were laughing at him in our texts he got a little upset at us so we did lay off of him after that, well kind of...lol
I have to say I was reminded why we like the Hilton Brand Hotels. We stayed at a LaQuinta Inn. Nasty is the best one word I can describe the room as. I also learned why you do not stay at the first hotel off of I-95. Plus the hotel never advertised it was a pet friendly hotel. We walked in our room and gagged. It smelt like cat urine. Very nasty. We decided not to say anything and turned up the air so we would not smell it but the next day I could smell it in my car!!! I will say the beds were truly awesome. Over all we did sleep as good as we could.
The alarm went off early Thursday (6:00 am). MacKenzie needed time to get ready. The alarm went off and she did not move. We had to wake her up. She finally after much banging around found the bathroom and shower. For some stupid reason I thought we were going to get to sleep another hour but NO, within minutes of being in the bathroom I hear....very loudly....MOMMY!!! I jump out of bed scared and MacKenzie just couldnot figure out how to start the shower. Did I mention she was half asleep? Or that I am not a really nice person without sleep? lol Anyway I get the shower started and hit the bed again to just about get to sleep to hear ...MOMMY. I jump out of bed again and go running to be hit in the head with a wet sock. For some reason she did not want only one sock in the bathroom. I have no idea what was going on. I did not go back to sleep. As soon as she was done in the shower I jumped in for my shower. Jeff got ready and we packed up to leave and have the free "breakfast". What a joke that was. The ad stated free breakfast not continental breakfast. Even to say continental is a joke. I grab a much needed cup of coffee and we headed to McDonalds.
Once we ate we headed to I-95. We had a little over an hour to drive. We were to Melbourne by just a few minutes after 9. Mac had been complaining of being sick and her ears hurting. We stopped at
Walmart and picked up some medicine. Thank goodness we did because I think the Musinex is the only reason we were not in the infirmary during the cruise. Good stuff. I swear by it now. OH did I mention she also talked me into a new bikini. Hey $15 is not bad for a cheap bikini. lol
We were at port, parked and had our luggage checked in by 10.
I have only cruised from RCI and Disney out of PC. I had no clue about the Carnival Terminal. I have to admit I was confused on how the heck to check our luggage. Disney and RCI always had the porters to take your luggage in the parking lot. But Carnival does not have that. They also do not have porters at the front of the terminal as other cruise embarkment ports have. Instead we had to walk to the terminal then go behind or side of it to the bus lot to find a porter. I do not know if this is usual or if the porters were only in the bus lot due to the fact we were there so early. People were getting off the ship still when we arrived. We did go by several porters and were told to go to the bus lot. I was a bit scared that my luggage would wind up on a bus verse the ship. Finally luggage was taken care off and we were off to check in.
We did not realize that you could not take a cooler onboard anymore and we had our roll on Disney cooler full of personal items. We were given trash bags to put our stuff in. We had no other recourse since we had checked our luggage. Jeff had to leave us and take the cooler back to the car. Mac and I went on thru security and were told to have a seat that the check in people were in a meeting. Jeff arrived shortly after to find us. It took about 30 minutes for the meeting to end and we were able to check in. I hated that we had to give up our good confortable seats but such is life. We still had good seats but not as comfy. They had a very nice lady there to entertain us and we did triva for about 30 minutes.
We were boarded after the wedding parties and the VIP guest. Over all the process was smooth except for the luggage part. We were on the Lido having lunch by 11:30.
OK I will do more later.
