craigslist tickets

I just returned from disney and my sister bought us park hoppers through craigslist for $90 each. The person gave us a confirmation number which he had attached to our names and we went to gust relations with our id and got the tickets. we payed him when we got through the gate. this seems too good to be true jsut wondering what the deal is with these tickets? does anyone know- are these cast members selling or what? thanks - hoping we didnt do anything illegal.

That's trusting a total stranger with a lot of info there. Yikes. Don't think I'd ever be that desperate.

Something doesn't feel right about any of that. Yes, there are Craigslist successes, but I dunno.

What all for info did your sister have to give this guy?

I know that multi-day tickets become non-transferrable once they are used for even one day. Meaning that you can't sell them and you can't even give them to a dying niece if you wanted. Enforcement of this is the main reason they have you scan your finger upon entering the park. It would seem that if it was not a multi-day ticket, then likely it was not illegal. But I know there are experts on this who will chime in.

Incredible trust on him to not ask for payment until you got through. Of course if that weren't the case, it would be incredibly risky to buy them from CL and then hoped they work.

With only the info provided, we don't know.

In general, it is unwise to buy tickets from an individual whom you don't personally know.

Who knows, but you got very lucky it all went smoothly. I'd never recommend buying tickets on craigslist.

That seller must've been real trusting of you guys to pay at all.

Sounds like a Cast member selling a pass. If they hadn’t paid him/her, they really aren’t out anything other than the pass they could have used for someone else. Surprising (but not really) that the cm would be willing to take that chance though as they would be terminated if caught. Disney started cracking down on this at least 12 years ago.

This. If it was a CM selling their comp day tickets, odds are they WILL be caught as Disney has people checking Craigslist, eBay, and so forth for CMs selling these things. And if caught they WILL be terminated.

Ages ago I worked for Starbucks. Employees get one free pound of coffee a week. Many younger employees don't even like coffee and would sell their bags on ebay. Then Starbucks started firing them for this.

If Starbucks will fire an employee over selling a $13 bag of coffee that is included as part of a benefits package, I can only imagine that Disney would be interested in stopping CMs from selling comp tickets.
