Does anyone know how to report a fraud listing on Craigslist?

I tried flagging it but the ad is still up several days later. The listing is for a house for rent. I email response that I got when I inquired about the ad says that the house is vacant because he's in Africa for 5 years. The ad has the address listed so I drove by before even sending the first email. The house is not vacant. The name listed on the property with the county is nothing even close to the name that sent me the email. Now the guy keeps bugging me to find out how he can mail the keys from Africa so that we can go inside and look.

I haven't responded to any of the emails (I used an email account set up just for Craigslist, Ebay...).

I was running into this problem as well when I was looking for a house to rent. What I do now is put the address into Zillow. That will give you details about the house. It shows a rent estimate as well. If it's way below that figure I don't even bother responding. I have found that Zillow is pretty accurate when it comes to that.

Just keep flagging it. There are people all over the world who use this scam as a full time job. Unfortunately, the law only responds IF a transaction takes place and Lord KNOWS I can't imagine anyone being THAT stupid... though I'm sure there are many. :sad2:

There was a listing for my neighbors house up for rent last year. I emailed her realtor the information and she told me it happens over and over to the houses she has up for sale. It's an easy place for them to get the address and a picture of the house to make it look legit.

Caveat emptor, just like with anything else.

Thanks. I'll keep flagging.

The guy trying to scam really needs to get a new email address. The messages come from God Isgood. :lmao:

You can go into "help, abuse, FAQ, legal" that's at the top lefthand corner. Go down to the bottom and click "contact us." Click "report scam or spam." Put in all the info you can, INCLUDING the post's number. I work for a realtor, and this happened to one of her listings recently. It took me doing this twice, but they eventually (2-3 days) pulled it off. DON'T just flag it.
