Oh how I long to join you Janice and the crew with scrapbooking!!

I wasn't working last week and caught the tail end of the 'scrapbooking' hour on QVC. Perhaps a good job because I'm sure that I would have been tempted. You see after watching some QVC last Tuesday when they had their Craft Day, it came to my attention that I already have a half finished Winnie the Pooh cross stitch (started 3 years ago), a latch hook cushion cover (started 2 years ago), various unfinished pieces of ceramics and I started a Mickey Mouse jigsaw at Christmas - aaaaarrrrrgggggggg!!

I have given myself a good talking too and have decided that I am not allowd to buy anything else until I've finished what I've got!!

Any other confessions out there or is it just me

Is it the photomosaic Mickey Mouse jigsaw Helen?

I started that before Christmas and finally finished it in March (because the in-laws were coming and we needed the dining room table) but I needed to use a magnifying lamp to make out where all the pieces went.

It now is much admired and has pride of place on the wall of our downstairs disney themed loo.

Funny you should mention that Christine, that is the very jigsaw. I did have it on a table in my conservatory but my sister came down with her one year old so I folded it into the jigsaw holder thingie and it has been there ever since!

If I finish it before next Christmas (I don't even know for sure if I'm joking) I would like to hang it up too! Hey I could have the cross stitch framed while I'm at it - LOL

Now if you're looking for other crafting confessions, I've still got on the go:

several cross stitching projects - cathedrals and maps for my mother whose eye sight has deteriorated so badly she couldn't finish them (6 months)

a lovely bead and cross stitch picture of Neptune (3 years)

various mats, cushions etc for my daughters dolls house (3 months)

and loads of other projects lurking under the bed in the spare room.

And still I've taken up scrapbooking .

I have to confess too... my wedding sampler is sitting 2/3 complete in the sewing basket - it's been there since the day my sis-in-law fell pregnant and I decided to do a baby sampler for her. I did finish my neices baby sampler and Katie's too, but the wedding sampler has never been touched since. We've been married 6 years this August, and I started it when we got engaged, so about 18 months before that.

one of the things I like about scrapbooking, is that each page only takes a little while to complete, maybe a couple of days if you are really stuck, so even if you take a break, you don't end up with half-finshed things hanging around.

Oh, jsut remembered, there's a lot of hexagons in the sewing basket, a few sewn into flower shapes, for a patchwork quilt I was going to make - I started that at least 10 years ago!

I am glad it's not just me then. I have two cross-stitch kits half done, and about a dozen to start. I had to give myself a severe talking to about buying more Winnie the Pooh kits when I haven't finished the ones I'm on.

I am pretty much the same. I bought a Cross Stitch Book Mark some years ago - have taken it to Florida twice, Mexico once and IT STILL IS IN THE BAG waiting to be started!!! I can honestly say the only thing I really get stuck into and wont stop till it's finished is any Dressmaking Project. I love sewing and making clothes so really enjoy creating garments. I make lots for Katie and my friends and get a great deal of pleasure from it.

Scrapbooking is fast becoming addictive though - but I am enjoying it so much, but I really should have waited till we moved!

i have half done cross stitch, all the things to scrap book but never started, 3 unfinished baby books and a 2 dance recital costumes that must be done by memorial day. Does anyone know how to sew maribou straps onto a leotard? The material keeps stretching!

Are there straps already on the leotard that you are covering, or are you creating straps with the Maribou??

I have done this in DD's dancing school days and realise it is not as easy as you would think

The best way that I found was just to attach each end of *the strap* to the Leotard in the correct places - and leave the actual strap free. Once the costume was on - the strap stayed in place because of the stretchy tight fitting of the leotard.

If you need to attach it to an existing strap or part of the costume, then the best way to do it is to get your DD to wear the leotard, and stitch the maribou on. I have done it this way before now to a whole troupe of 15 dancers. I put a stitch in at the beginning to hold it in place, one at the end - and a few along the way - nothing too major.

One last option would be perhaps a dab of Fabric Glue here and there.

Janice, thank you for the advice. Its for a recital for a 4 yr old girl. Basically its a leotard made of a velvet like material. It already has 2 white maribou straps attached to the front of the leotard. Its actually like one piece of maribou attached to the front edge of the leo, with the rest unattached. So I thought that I could loop each over the shoulders of my girl and attach the maribou straps to the back of the leo. The teacher wants the excess maribou to frame the back of the leo, the way it does on the front. Those darn straps are very stretchy though, and they keep shedding. Another mom in class, said that we may have to seal the ends of the straps or they will keep shedding. So any help would be great! I am going away overnite (no computer 0) but will check on Friday for anyones idea. thanks again, I am not a sewer.(sp)

Hi Kidzmom

The only other thing I can think of that might work is Fabric Glue. Dipping the end of the Maribou just in the glue should stop any further fraying.

The problem with using glue is that it then becomes permanent as such - have you tried pinning with a safety pin?

I will keep thinking but for the time being cant come up with any better solution.

I am so glad to find other people like me who have numerous craft projects started and not yet finished, Only this week I reprimanded myself and restarted some unfinished projects - really its a ploy to do something with my fingers to stop myself eating or thinking about eating - Just started weight watchers and have 21 lbs to loose before our WDW visit in August - hope I can keep going - I have been swimming 4 times this week and plan to go again at 7.30 in the morning - I am desperate to shape up before my Discovery Cove swim although DH says the Dolphins won't take any notice!!!!!!!!
