craft shows

My mom, sister and I are starting up a craft business. I was wondering if any of you have any websites you look at for upcoming shows?

not sure what part of PA you're in but some of my favorite craft shows in PA are:


Ho-Made days (williamsport, PA) - usually third weekend in July but may be different this year.

Covered Bridge Festival - (Elysburg, PA at Knoebels amusement park) weekend in October.

Christmas Gift Show - (Harrisburg, PA) starts the wednesday after Thanksgiving and goes through Sunday. (Hundreds of people go here.)

When I was doing Tupperware I looked in the Tag Sale section of the classified, sometimes there would be ads for different places renting spaces for people to sell stuff. Hope that helps Good luck with your crafts.

Most crafts shows will have flyers from other shows coming up so you can build a list that way. Here, (Seattle) there is a book out that lists most of the craft shows in the area, dates and contact information.

Just an FYI, most shows require that you sign up at least 3-6 months in advance. Any good show will fill up long before the actual show, so without a book or list of somesort it may take you awhile to get a stream of shows to sell at.

Something you should be aware of..... if you are participating in any of the larger craft shows, the tax people tend to show up unannounced and can ask to see your business license and tax collection certificate. If you want to do craft shows, make SURE that you at least have a copy of your papers to show them if they turn up.

Thought I should warn you since I was working as an artist/crafter about 5 years ago and I know that they were checking at some of the shows that I participated in.

In terms of how to find shows, there is a book that is published each year that lists the bigger craft shows. It is called "The Yellow (something)".... can't remember the other word but, if you search online for a listing of craft festivals, I am sure it will come up.
