Any ideas for an 8-year old girl sleepover party?

I was thinking about some type of craft activity that wouldn't be too messy.
Any ideas for food?

If you can't tell, we've never been to a sleepover or hosted one!

Any help would be appreciated!

I'm thinking about 5 girls. Is that a good number?

TIA!

I have 2 sisters, so there were tons of slumber parties at our house. WE normally had around 5 girls. For food my mom liked to do individual pizzas. She'd get the packages of dough and make each girl a small pizza, then we could put whatever toppings we wanted on it. My mom put out bowls of cheese, pepperoni, hamburger meat, mushrooms, peppers, etc. We all loved it.

For a craft, there are so many things. Look at michaels. they have lots of kits that have everything you need to make various foam things, like door hangers, picture frames, etc. you could get a foam frame kit or get the wood frames to paint (but that's messy) or get cheap frames and get things for them to glue on, pretty buttons, feathers, beads, etc. then take a group picture and send it in th ethank you note to put in the frame.

Decorating a pillowcase woudl be a good one for a sleepover.

You can find small scrapbooks at the dollar tree, you could get different paper and some scissors/punches/stamps/stickers and let them scrapbook.

Work with your child to pick a theme, and the ideas will flow from there! Also, check out www.familyfun.com for their party section -- SO many great ideas in one place! Enjoy, and don't expect to get much sleep....

I agree with the above poster-- choose a theme first. A spa theme might be fun. Or maybe a movie night, a "night under the stars," a candyland party, or a tropical party.
Spa party- give the girls manicures and facials, and do their hair. You could even have a little fashion show. For dinner serve sandwiches or pizza. Serve smoothies and chocolate covered strawberries. For a craft you could make lip gloss or decorate flip-flops, sunglasses, or purses. Serve home made waffles or pancakes with fruit for breakfast. For decorations, use lots of candles, feather boas and streamers. You could even use shower curtains to divide a room up into manicure, facial, and hair stations.

Movie Night- serve pizza or hot dogs for dinner. Set up a room like a movie theater. Serve popcorn and candy as snacks. Maybe you could even have a little award show or have the girls make their own movie.

Night under the stars- they could either camp outside or inside. For dinner, cook hot dogs and hamburgers. Roast marshmellows, tell camp fire stories, have a scavenger hunt. Play games such as cherades. If you are inside, hang stars on the ceiling.

Candyland party- decor- make it look like you are floating in the clouds- pink cotton candy clouds that is. Fill the party room with balloons, pink rugs, stuffing, etc. Make large candy garland- put two bowls together and wrap them in colored celophane (twist the ends of the celophane so that it looks like old fashioned candy), make more of these in different colors and attach them with ribbon, then hang the garland over a door. Make giant candycanes out of some kind of flexible tubing and make giant loli pops. Make cotton candy, have a chocolate fountain. You can buy candy necklace kits for a craft or make a candy houses. Have lots of candy everywhere. For dinner, try to come up with food that looks like candy, for example, maybe you could put pink foodcoloring in mashed potatos so that it looks like cotton candy(I have never tried this, so I don't know if it would actuallywork! :cool1: ).

Tropical party- decorate so that the room looks like a beach. have a hula hoop contest, build mini sandcastles, decorate flip-flops, serve tropical food and drinks.

Good luck and have fun!!!!!

What great ideas! We are going to have so much fun planning this!

I've never made individual pizzas. Can you cook 5 at the same time so that they are done at the same time? That sounds fun!

Thanks!
