We enjoy our resort ADR's and shopping, etc. What effect, if any, do you feel the new addition will have on monorail system? Will it still be as easy to get around on the resort loop?
The way I look at it the Monorail at the Contemporary is always busy with guests during the evening hours with guests taking it to eat at the various restaurants and those taking it back to the TTC, or to the other Resorts on the Monorail line. A few times my family and I have had to wait for a 2nd Monorail because there was such a big line when we got there. So while the DVC building might add to the numbers I don't think it will be a huge increase, because there is a lot of guests who already take it from the Contemporary.
You have to comsider that the North wing has been gone for a few years now, so the monorail has been actually running with lower capacity for that time.
When the new DVC opens it will probably seem like the monorail is more crowded, but it will just be a little bit more crowded than when the old North wing was there.
Also, the ability to add extra monorails to the line is there. If the lines get too long monorails can be added to the routes.
Exactly. Five minute walk compared with who knows how long of a wait for the monorail. I know, kids are tired, etc. But I still don't understand how waiting for a monorail with hundreds of other people and getting crammed into a monorail car is any better than walking five extra minutes.
