CR Tower!!!

I recently found out that I got into the Contemporary Tower and am reeeeeally excited!

I want pros and cons to staying in the CR tower, I have heard a lot about it before, and how some people dislike it, but I have always DREAMED of staying there.

Nothing can scare me, so don't hold back.

DH & I stayed there in Oct and loved everything except the cleanliness! The view-castle-was gorgeous. It was quiet and peaceful and once again wonderful. The cleanliness was disgusting however. We needed a handicapped room with a roll in shower, as I have fallen several times trying to climb in and out of tubs. The shower seat was white plastic and should have looked white but was covered in green mold and mildew, mousekeeping never cleaned it even after repeated calls. Thank-fully I did not need to sit on it, but did take pics and mail them to Guest Relations. Our towels, changed daily, but very worn-so that when you went to dry off your back they ripped in two. Also a lot of dust and dirt in draws and floors. Not normal stuff you can overlook but dustballs and big crumbs when arriving.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the contemporary. I've stayed at other Disney resorts before and was always homesick for the Contemporary. I've also never had a problem with cleanliness there. I realize that other people have reported problems but I never had a problem with it in my room. I've also read reports saying that the common areas were run down but again, I've never noticed it. And I really looked last time I was there! I only go in the off season so maybe it has something to do with the busier times of the year.

Pros - Short walk to everything within the resort; monorail service; convenient walkway to the Magic Kingdom; Nightly Electric Water Pageant right outside at the dock; the smell of waffles drifting up from Chef Mickey's when you get off the monorail; close convenient parking; Biggest and best arcade on property. Keeps my kids entertained.

Cons - Food court not as good as the moderate and value resorts; washers and dryers in the laundry area are expensive and take a long time; hard to get reservations there (as much as everyone always complains about it, it always seems to be booked solid).

So there's my opinion for what it's worth. Have a great trip. Unfortunately for me, I won't be going back for 3 years

We were bumped from the North Wing to the Tower due to SOG relocation.
So we had a wonderful rate $159 for a tower room.

The room was brightly decorated and clean.
I do not remember the room # - but we were a few floors
above Chef Mickeys (you could hear the song in our bathroom).
Our balcony over looked the roof of the convention center and the front drive into the CR.
I am sure it was not a prime Tower room - but hey it was great.

But if you look straight across from the balcony, you could see
the MK fireworks and the monorail. Very cool.


The game room is wonderful. The snack bar next to the game room is good for a quick bite to eat.

Laundry hint at any WDW resort - do it at 5 or 6 AM.
Send DH to do. DW does the kids. The go to a Early Entry Park.
DH naps in the afternoon while DW and kids do the pool.
Only need the routine once during a vacation.


The monorail is SOOOOO convient for MK and EPCOT.
The buses run very well. Never had a problem.

The business center is great for those DH's who bring work with
them. I loose my DH at least once every WDW trip to the business center. Again, DW and kids do the pool.

So - our choices of Hotels - CR, Dolphin and Coronado Springs - the WDW resorts with business centers for DH and large pools with slides for the rest of the crew.
