Hi All,

The last time we were at CR we had a Bay Lake view which I enjoyed and found relaxing. This coming trip I have upgraded to a MK View as a surprise to my family.
Is it really worth the extra cost? Is the view really that much better? I know you can see the MK but isn't the parking lot also in the view?

TIA

~Laura

Well....the rate for MK view is a lot higher than it was the time we were there, but YES, YES, YES!!!!!!!! It is the most amazing view of anywhere I've ever stayed!!!!:thumbsup2 The first night we checked in, we stepped out onto the balcony and I all but burst into tears it was soooooo beautiful! Watching the fireworks from your balcony is awesome! The magic kingdom is SO close! If you can swing the extra price, DO IT!!
As for the parking lot--yes, it's there, but you will tend to look right past it. We were only on the 7th floor, so I would imagine it's even less noticeable from the higher floors.
It was funny, however, the car alarms that were set off by the fireworks!!

Magic kingdom view > don't do it.;)

Because you will want that view EVERY time you go back. Once you have it, you will feel like your missing something.

Other bad points:

Price
Parking lot view
Road way in front of tower, bus noise factor
Unbelievable view of MK, gf, poly, even the TTC.
Non direct view of water pagent parade, but can see the Poly, gf, and mk versions.;) (3 a nite).
You will get mosquito bites cause your out on your large patio too much.
When you're at MK and looked at CR from the train, or starjets remember how close and what a great view cr was? > Reverse that.

Have a great time, and enjoy the view.:thumbsup2

On your touring style. We have been on five trips and have probably spent less than 15 minutes total on any balcony. It is just not part of our routine. At the time the fireworks would be going in the MK we are either in the park watching them, or in another park watching something else. We have not toured yet with little ones however, so our touring plan may be changing in future years since we now have a new grandson. So I guess I am saying will the extra cost for the view be really appreciated or barely noticed because you are busy out enjoying the parks?

I was fortunate as a kid in that my family and I visited WDW every October for the Disney Golf Classic. We stayed at every deluxe resort on property numerous times, and I can tell you the only ones that stand out in my mind were the times at the CR with MK view! I used to look out the glass door at the monorails in the distance as the rest of the family slept. Cheesy, maybe a little. But a memory I'll hopefully one day share with my kids and I think you wont regret sharing with yours. Ok so maybe I went a little over board but you get the gist....:thumbsup2

Oooh, we just came back last night. Spent two days at ASMo, and then moved over for 8 nights at CR. Since we were there with a convention rate ($185/night), we weren't expecting much, but the convention organizers booked us into a Tower MK view room. Amazing!!! I can't begin to describe what it looked like when we first opened our curtains. I toatlly agree, though, that between the views and the convenience, you'll always want to stay there. Really, though, the parking lot is a non-issue, so don't let that dissuade you. You won't find a better view anywhere at WDW. Enjoy!

The Magic Kingdom view at the Contemporary is the best view you can get at any of the WDW Resorts on property, so you made the right choice and you won't regret it.

we were there last october, and yes, the view is worth it. Even the view of the top of the 'dixie cup' trees was really neat. yes, you'll see the parking lot, but you look past it. The higher up you are, the better view you'll get. (we were upgraded from MK view to conceirge MK view!) :goodvibes

Wait, there's a parking lot down there? LOL Seriously, you wont even notice it! You'll be so blown away by the views past the parking lot that you wont even think twice about that or the roadway below. The higher rooms have a bit of a better view, but they are all magical. Just beware of the birds, we were scared back into our room a couple of times by giant crows. LOL

One thing I hadn't counted on was my dd3 not really wanting to be in the MK for the fireworks b/c they were too loud. Watching them from the CR balcony was great and she loved it.

And the view isn't solely of the MK either - you'll also have a good view of the GF, the Poly, and the Monorail as it travels.

It really is a beautiful view - especially at dusk. Things get all orangey and purpley - it just makes you feel happy.

Agreed! We stayed at a CR, MK view room in September '05. It was well worth the price.

We got woke up everyday by the testing of the MK train whistle. Yes, its a parking lot view also. But the family and I were so excited about seeing the castle change colors and the fireworks, we barely noticed.

You'll love it. We also were there for the MNSSHP. It was nice watching everyone wait in the long lines for the buses when all we had was a 5 minute walk back to our room.

All I can say is read my trip report about having breakfast on the balcony overlooking MK, going to bed with the castle in the background, etc.!! Here was our view.

Do it do it do it!

My family has always been the commando type of WDW travlers but for the views from 12th floor, MK end, we made exceptions!! It was one of the best trips ever! Every morning we would all get up a bit early to sit on the balcony and just watch as the MK started to open for the day... as they brought the monorails out, it was fantastic!

We did wishes from our balcony 2ce and just fyi- there is a tv channel that plays the music so you can hear everything just as well as you could from teh parks!!! It was SO MAGICAL :D

My picture from Sept 2006. Scroll to the right to see the entire photo. Worth every penny!!! Going back this Sept for the Tower MK view again.

BEWARE...once you have tasted the nectar, you can not go back! This view is fabulous! 66 days and counting...:woohoo:

we stayed in 2004 MK view and it was nice, i think we got the room for around 268.00 (discount) but anyway we pulled up the table close to the window and would eat dinner, it was really nice
