Hi everyone!! My husband and I are considering staying at CR - Tower Room MK View. Can anyone tell me if those rooms have been renovated? And if you have stayed there - did you like the room? Thank you so much!!

I believe all the tower rooms have been renovated except for one floor, which was, last I heard, currently closed for renovation. That may be complete, now, as well. I know the target for completion of ALL room renovations was early to mid September, so....

I haven't stayed in a renovated room at the CR, but I HAVE seen them. They're very nice and quite different from the old decorating scheme. Flat panel TV and lots of earth tones (brown, black, beige) with a sleeker look.

Quick story. On our honeymoon last year, DW and I stayed at the CR. We had requested a MK View Room with a King Bed. When we arrived at our un-rehabbed room, I immediately went to the balcony to check out the view of the castle. I thought it was all right, but I had the same reaction as you. "Wait, I have to look at the parking lot too?" Then my DW noticed that we didn't have the king bed that we requested, but instead we had the two double beds. So we called the front desk, explained that we were on our honeymoon and really didn't want two double beds, and asked if we could get a MK View Room with a king bed. They said they didn't have a MK View Room left with a king, but they did have a Lake View room with a king bed. We decided we would rather have the bed than the view, so we took it. It turned out to be a renovated room, and I instantly fell in love with both the room and the view. I guess it would be neat to see the castle change colors at night, but I really liked looking out my window and seeing the pool and the lake. Plus, you get to see the water pageant every night around 9:00 from your balcony, which I thought was really cool.

I thought the new rooms in the Tower looked amaizing. I have stayed in them in December 2005 into January 2006 & as recently as last month. My family & I will be staying at them again this comming December, so I can't wait.

When I confirmed our room today (for Friday!!) I asked and yes, all the tower rooms have been renovated.

thank you all so much!! yes, the bay side looks great too. Unfortunately (maybe that isn't the right word!!!), the only thing they have left for our vacation time frame is Tower MK View.

When are you planning on staying? I was told by another poster on here that Disney will not be releasing any Lake View rooms for reservation until after the 1st of the year due to renovations. That confused me, since I thought all room renovations were complete. Anyway, I just booked my trip last night  for a MK View Room in the tower, but I plan on checking back every couple weeks to see if they do indeed release the Lake View rooms. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but I won't be disappointed with the MK view.

Not to run on the rumor mill any more than necessary:

They might not have been talking about ROOM renovations. The current rumor is that the North Garden Wing is going to be closed on Oct 1st, demolished, and a new DVC resort built in it's place. IF that were true, some of the lakeview rooms might have their view negatively impacted. By holding back the rooms...maybe they're just doing so to make sure not to sell a room who's view is going to be less than optimum.

I know when we were there in January, they were doing tower renovations by floor, not by view. I THINK it was the 6th floor that was undergoing renovations when we were there....it was completely blocked off on both sides and they were doing hallway renovations on BOTH sides as well.

Interesting view point. I had also thought about the rumored DVC construction, but then I thought to myself "would Disney REALLY sacrifice 50 room reservations every night just to save people from having a bad view"? I guess I'm going to expect to be keeping my MK View, but hoping to change to a Lake View.

When I was there last August (2005), they were just finishing up the renovations on the floor that we stayed on. They had the plywood walls by the elevators when we arrived, but they were gone by the end of our trip.

I doubt they'll "sacrifice" the rooms. I'm sure they'll still be occupied. But they'll either sell them at a discounted rate or hold them open for filling overflow from the convention traffic.

My suspicion is if they're holding them, and it's due to possible DVC construction, they're doing it because they're not SURE of the impact the construction will have on views and want to be double, triple sure before selling a room at full price that it will be "as advertised".

Gotcha. I obviously misread your first post. That makes a lot of sense to me.

Nah...I just wasn't real clear in my explanation. You read it just fine. Sometimes I forget other posters can't just read my mind.... :)

:thumbsup2

I totally agree that the water view is fantastic. We arrived at the CR during a blinding thunderstorm. I had intended to check our bags and head off to MK if our room wasn't ready, but the weather was too bad (you really couldn't see several feet in front of you.) There was a room available, but ti didn't meet a single on of my requests - it was on the lowest possible floor, water view, near Chef Mickey's.

All of these things turned out to be a plus! We were on the same floor as the monrail, which was cool to watch. The water view was terrific-at any other place, it would be the premium view. It was even neat to be near Chef Mickey's. It was fun to look down and see the characters in the morning before we left for the parks.
