I think I have made up my mind to stay at the CR Tower at the end of sept. with my nine year old son.

Tell me all about what you experiance was. The good, bad and the ugly LOL! But I'm hoping to hear more good then bad.

I want to stay there b/c I want to be close to MK and the monerail! And IF we get a MK view, that will be a big plus, but I'm not expecting it at all, that isn't my reason for staying there.
Do they have non smoking rooms, my son has asthma.

Its a perfect place to stay. you are right on the lobby where the monorail is and it is very neat. The rooms are large. You can look at a beautiful view regardless of which way you face. There is not walking a long distance when you get off the monorail. Just hop on an elevator. There is a huge neat gameroom. You can walk from MK when transportation is crowded. You have to eat breakfast at the concourse steak house and have a sticky mickey. There are boats and pools. You can see the water electric show. It is really the neatest place in the whole DW!! Have fun. :earsgirl:

There was such an electric feeling at the Contemporary. Maybe some of that was due to it being DD and my first time at WDW, but we've since stayed at SSR, and the Contemporary definitely evokes more energy..... the monorail running right thru the hotel..... the festive Chef Mickey's projects throughout the hotel hallways (but we couldn't hear it in our room)...... and the view of MK (or even the lagoon). You and DS will love it.

Oh, I think every resort has non-smoking rooms. I would make them aware of your son's asthma so they can do whatever possible to take care of you.

We stayed 14th floor CR back in january, it was very nice, and we'd do it again if the opportunity presented itself. That said, there are a lot of places I'd rather stay.

DH and I stayed in the tower with a MK view in October and really enjoyed it. The view was absolutely incredible - over the lagoon, the other MK resorts and of course the MK itself. We found the service to be wonderful - although I did think the room itself looked a tiny bit worn but what the heck. I've heard that the bay view is quite nice also. I think you'll have a wonderful time!

we stayed one night in the tower before moving over to the BWV. i loved it. we had an mk view, and we watched the fireworks from our balcony. ds(2) loved the 'train' and we ate at chef mickeys.

extremely convenient with small children (we also had our four month old dd with us), and the room is huge! i've stayed at the GF and Poly and the CR rooms are larger. plus i like the bathroom setup better as well.

We have stayed at CR twice. My DS 9 really liked the food and fun center, so be sure to plan to spend some there. Great for a rainy afternoon. We did not have the MK view but a wonderful view of the pool and the lake. Each night at 10 we would step off our balcony and watch the electric water pageant. I still have those songs in my head. Chef Mickey's is close at hand be sure to have at least one meal there. We usually opted for dinner.

Also, I could sit in the hot tub which is literally in the pool while my kids were swimming around me. I loved this feature.

Enjoy!

I agree with you wholeheartedly! CR is so alive, active, and it was Walt's baby.

Outside of OKW & SSR, we love the "Tower" - heading there again on May 7!

I just booked this myself for December. My confirmation states Tower-park/bay view. I called and they said that the MK view is also considered Bay Lake view. Is this right? I was also told to call the front desk 5 days before my trip and talk to the room assigner to make sure I got the MK view. We usually stay at the Poly and will in October but have always wanted to try the CR. Does anyone have an pics of the MK view from the tower rooms? Thanks!

I have pictures of the view, but don't know how to include them here... (I can email them to you)... try to copy this link and see if it works...

I think, you ought to try for a room at the end farthest from Chef Mickeys. Every morning we heard nothing but noise from the breakfast crowd.

Thanks for sharing your pictures, they are amazing! CR has become my 1st choice for the 2006 trip and I am gathering info already.

Do you know what room numbers are further away from Chef Mickey? And
I definitely want MK view, what terminology do you use to request that?

just ask for "magic kingdom view", that's what we did.

I don't know what the numbers are away from Chef Mickeys, but our room number was 4627 and we were RIGHT above it.

Wonderful pics! Thanks so much for sharing. Now I'm even more excited to stay there! I was kind of nervous as the Poly is our favorite but my mom wanted to stay at the CR once before she died. Not that she is going anywhere soon but we thought Christmas would be a good time to stay at the CR. I will definitely ask for a room away from Chef Mickey's! I cannot imagine having my room right about it like that. Thanks again!

Thanks for all your replies! I am now even more excited about staying there! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Question about the noise if you are near Chef Mickeys, At what time does the noise start? I don't plan on sleeping in, in the mornings, so it may not bother me, so I just wanted to know, at what times is it noisey?? Is it noisey late at night? Just want to know if I need to request a room, away from chef mickeys too.

We stayed there on the 12th floor (Club level) in October. I had requested a MK view. We didn't get it. However, the Bay Lake view was wonderful and peaceful. I loved looking at the lake and watching the boats and pool in the early morning. Every night would would sit on the balcony to watch the electric water parade. One night we were invited up to the 14th floor concierge level to watch the fireworks. It was wonderful too; however, this view looks over the parking lot. I really don't know what view I would prefer if I go back. I really think I liked the Bay Lake side better.

The noise started exactly at 7am. Normally it wouldn't bother us, as we are morning people, but for some reason this trip our schedule switched, and we slept in, and stayed at MK until midnight. So, 7 am came too early for us! The dinner noise ended relatively early.

CR Tower-A Disney lover's dream!
We were on the 7th floor overlooking MK. We never experienced any noise inside the room. Chef Mickey's itself is quite noisy, which is why we prefer the character breakfast at Cape May Cafe. CR has a really fun arcade.
California grill is our overall favorite WDW restaurant, so being right there in the same building was a big thrill. As previously stated, the larger room is definately a plus.
Oh yeah, nothing beats the convenience of the monorail, especially during periods of high attendance.

If I had to stretch my imagination to find ANY drawback (and believe me this is a BIG stretch), it may be the "interesting" room decor. I've read on this board that some people didn't like the bold patterns and bright color scheme. I personally thought they were very cool.

Bay Lake is a different view than MK. Seven Seas Lagoon is the body of water in front of MK. They won't guarantee which view you will get but they will note it in the computer.
