CR to Poly with luggage

We are staying at CR but our Disney cruise transportation departs from Poly. The obvious choice is to take our luggage with us on the monorail, which I understand may not be allowed.

So what are the options? If a cab is the best option, are they fairly easily obtained or should this all be planned out well in advance?

Taxis are staged and waiting at most WDW resorts, especially at the deluxes. If for some reason there isn't one waiting already, the staff can summon one for you in a matter of minutes.
