CR Questions

Just booked a week ressie for the CR the 1st week in December. If anyone can tell me about the day beds I would appreciate it. Can an adult sleep on it comfortably or is mainly designed for kids? Can it be used with bed rails which I requested already with my ressie. My DD will be a 2 year old that I think will be too big for the pack n play crib. She will either have to share a bed with her brother or sleep in the day bed.

Also, I was told that a refrigerator will be standard in the rooms by Nov. Is there anyplace on the CR premises to buy a 1/2 gallon of milk or a loaf of bread and peanut butter to keep in the room for a quick lunch. We will probably be returning to the room every day for my DD's naps? I have seen that there is a grocery store that will deliver groceries to your room but it has to be a $50 minimum. With a large pack of diapers we could probably come up with some ideas to meet the minimum. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Thanks for all the wonderful info I have found on these boards. It makes planning the trip half the fun!

I think I can answer some of your questions. The day bead is large enough for an adult- I could fit on it comfortably, but I don't think my DS who is a six-footer would be comfortable. I'm not sure about the bed rails. We were at the CR in December, and there was a fridge in the room- no place at the hotel to get the items you mentioned, though. You will love the convenience of the CR :)

We stayed at the CR in 2002 and my boys just loved it! What we did about items to have on hand for in-room munching is we mailed ourselves a package. We were flying in so didn't want to have to carry a suitcase of munchies, etc. so I purchased stuff like fruit snacks, crackers, poptarts, granola bars and then wrapped that stuff up with 2 beach towels for cushion and mailed it. I think I mailed it on a Monday via parcel post for our Friday arrival. I checked with the CR beforehand and they said to address it to them w/our conf #, name and arrival date and they would hold it for us. We checked in and they had the package sent to our room w/o fail. I know of others who mail themselves diapers and wipes as well to save luggage space.

The Food and Fun Center sells individual milk cartons which you could keep in the fridge. I can't speak to the grocery delivery because we've never tried it.

If you want to purchase those items on WDW property, the closest place for you would be the store at Fort Wilderness. I think there is still a boat from CR to FW - one of the FW stores is right by the marina, so it would be a relatively quick & easy way to get your groceries. Just be aware that groceries cost double on WDW property. If you are taking a towncar from the airport, use Tiffany & request a grocery stop when you make your ressie.

As far as the daybeds, if they are the same as the Polynesian, GF & BC ones, they are plenty big enough for a child to sleep on. Unless you are a large adult, they are big enough for most everyone.

Exactly what I was going to post. Take the short boat ride to Ft. Wilderness and to to the trading post. Yes the prices are high, but have a nice variety of items. Since the campers use this store, it stays pretty well stocked. Also, you can take the boat to WL. since this is also a DVC resort, they carry food items in their store too. But Ft. Wilderness has a bigger selection for the campers.

The daybed at CR is like a small sofa, that is used with the table for meals, then folds down for a bed. We didn't use it, but may have to for our September trip.

The day bed is pretty comfortable for an adult. It folds down from the back, as the seat of the "sofa" tucks down. It's about the size of a twin bed.

Thanks everyone for the great tips. I think we will have plenty of room at the CR and yes it probably makes perfect sense to ship a package down so it is there when we arrive. My DH and DS would probably think it was way cool to take the boat over to FW for some extra supplies, too.

I am so excited to have found such a wonderful forum for planning this vacation. I'm addicted to these boards. LOL!
