CR or Poly?

Really did not like Poly at all. It was very dark and mousekeeping was not very good. We would rather stay at a moderate before we stayed there again. GF was fantastic. Loved it but could not get a water view for our trip in Oct. My family loves water views, so CR here we come. Kids have always wanted to stay there. I have to say I love the new look of the rooms. Did not like the old decorating style at all.

The new rooms are amazing! I am typically very hard to please, and I loved the look and feel of it all! I think people who are saying bad things about the CR have not stayed in their new incredible rooms, and are thinking of it before the rehab.

I feel as if the CR has a wonderful luxury feel to it. I felt very comfortable there, and I stay in 4 and 5 star hotels all the time for work.

From the pictures, I like the whole look of the CR rooms way over Poly.

I'm weighing the same decision for our '09 trip.

We will be staying at CR for the first time next month, garden wing standard view, only 4 nights and with the AP rate, it is downright cheap for a deluxe room on the monorail. I'm waiting to see how we like it there before I book for '09. The room design appeals to me but I'm not sure about the rest of the resort.

What I love about the Poly:
1) Transportation rocks all around. We travel with 3 generations and it is so easy to split up and meet back at the room when we stay at the Poly! Backdoor access to the TTC is awsome.
2) Food. We love Ohana, Kona and even Captin Cooks is great.
3) Room design is great, lots of storage in room and in the bathroom.
4) Atmosphere

That said, our room at the Poly was not clean at all last trip, March 07. That is why we will not be back there this year and why I'm uncertain about returning in the future.

I too cant wait to go to CR. I think my kids are going to love the big waterslide and from what another poster said the pool is Mickey shaped (i was trying to figure out the shape before and now it makes sense). Alot of posters mentioned the slide was nice. I have seen many pictures of the pool area and it looks like its going to be a great choice for my kids.
To top it off Chef Mickeys is right there so it will all be so convenient.

I swear I can never stay set on a resort for more than a week (if I even make it that long ) I was originally booked at Poly, downgraded, then got a code and upgraded to CR, but now I just can't decide :confused3. What should I do?

Have you considered booking a split stay?

I was considering a split stay, but would rather just stay put. I would really only do a split stay if I couldn't afford a whole trip at a deluxe.

Just be careful in the garden rooms. You cannot compare its experiences to that of a tower room. Two totally different experiences...

I thought it looked like mickey ears and so did my husband.

In the 2007 Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World on page 135 they were was a paragraph written how a lot of their readers had experienced bad service at the Polynesian over the years from front desk service, valet service and housekeeping. While my family and I did not experience any of that when we stayed there last December, it does show how another WDW travel book mentioned their readers had various problems at the Polynesian. However I would not put to much stock into what a few readers thought of the Polynesian based on one book, just like with the small number of guests who did not like the Contemporary in the Passporter book.

I can only speak for myself, but... I've visited WDW on average twice a year, and stayed in 7 different resorts. When I've stayed at the Polynesian, I've greatly enjoyed the rooms and the overall atmosphere. However, I've never encountered a front desk that was so slow to check-in guests as that at the Polynesian. Not even close.

One of the major reasons that I chose the CR is being largely overlooked here. It's the only place where you can walk to the MK. I was perfectly happy to trade exotic themes for the most convenient location on the property.

Thanks for brining that up which is a very good point. The walkway to the Magic Kingdom is another big factor the way the Polynesian has the walkway to the TTC.
