CR or Dolphin

I'm traveling next march with my DH, three kids, mom, and two disabled brothers. I received the AAA rate at CR and am waiting to see if I can get a teacher or discounted rate at Dolphin. If not, both prices are equal. Which would you recommend? We stayed at D/S two years ago and loved it. If D/S have discounts, choice becomes much easier. Anyone have any recommendations.

That is a tough choice but only if you plan on a Tower room at the CR. I would choose the Dolphin over the CR Garden wings. I do love both resorts and have stayed at the CR Tower (4x) and Garden Wing (1x), the Swan and Dolphin many times. I have been returning to the S/D because of the teacher rate and the location and the wonderful comp upgrades they give.

Good luck in making your choice --- you can't go wrong with either one. :goodvibes

I'd recommend the CR for the convenience factor. You don't mention what type of disabilities your brothers have but the monorail is hard to beat for transportation to the Magic Kingdom. You might also try asking over on the DISabilities board.

Truthfully I would recomend the Dolphin. I too use the teacher rates for the Swan ands Dolphin and it works out great! You get a delux resorta with a HUGE price discount! Although I do think the swan would be a good choice over the dolphn (not so intimidating in size, much more intimate) both are wonderfull resorts! Good luck in your decision!

I do love both the Dolphin and CR, but I think in your case CR wins out for the reasons Rcraw mentions. We stayed in the North Wing at CR and loved it. I imagine they would put you in a ground level room if your group is dealing with disabilities. I would request that. The patio is great!

Now if you can get a good teacher rate, it might be worth it to switch to the Swan or Dolphin. If prices are equal or close, stick with CR.

I love the Swan/Dolphin and they have AAA rates or rates through Deb's
sight or entertainment rates, all about $169.00 per night. Not as good
as teacher/gov. worker but its beat the CR . At least that was the
case when I priced them last week for a trip this Sept. I think the Swan/Dolphin are beautiful hotels with beds that can't be beat and I love
the pool, the location and the service!

However if mobility is a problem, the monorail is wonderful. We stayed at
a monorail resort my first trip when my husband was ill and DD still in a
stroller. I wouldn't have considered anything else!

Have a wonderful trip!

I would choose the Contemporary. I just stayed in the Swan for the first time. Although it was a nice resort, it just did not feel like I was really staying in WDW. It was sort of like: so close, yet so far away. However I must add, we are real Disney addicts. We want to be completely surrounded by Disney when we are at WDW. We want the character wake up calls, the Disney music playing, the hidden Mickeys, the tv channel & phone # that lists park, parade and fireworks times, etc. The whole package. Even the toiletries. Although the Swan's toiletries are better quality, we always bring our own favorite brands anyway, and there is something so Disney about seeing Mickey on the soaps, little shampoo bottles and coasters.
