Hello - I thought I have read that from some standard view rooms in the contemporary garden wings you can actually see the castle. Is this true? does anyone have any room recommendations for CR north wing castle view rooms? Does anyone have pictures?

We are planning for the summer. I love to see the castle. The rates for the poly and gf water view are kind of high for us this year as we are hoping to do a 10 day trip. We have had reasonably priced castle view from the WL but I was hoping for a monorail. All advice welcome!!

Thanks,

Missy

I am *pretty sure* the North wing rooms don't have a castle view. We have stayed in the very first room in the north wing building facing toward MK and we could see the fireworks but no castle. The "berm" is in the way.

However, if you really want the best castle view, the Cont. Tower is it. IMHO, the Poly's is too far away as is the GF. The Cont. is closer, you can see a lot. You have to look over the parking lot, but if you are on a high floor it is easy to look out over the lot.

Hopefully you're not talking about this summer??? CR rooms are very hard to come by, esp. standard or GV since the CR is being refurbished. We stayed in the So. Wing last year and saw the monorail every day. Since the wings do not have balconies, the view is not important to us. We have standard rooms booked for our September trip and booked them a year in advance.

I had a 3rd floor North Wing Room and I could see the top of the Castle, Space Mountain and the Astro Orbiter. Mind you we were in the first room by the elevators closest to the Main Building.

If you have your heart set on going to the Contemporary I would be booking a room ASAP. Standard rooms are hard to come by now that they are in the process of refurbishing the South Wing.

We stay at the Contemporary every year, in the Tower, and while the view of the Castle is Magical at night, you do have to see the parking lot everyday. This year, for a change, we are staying at the Wilderness Lodge. I have heard many wonderful reviews from this site on the view of the Castle. It is far less expensive than CR, even the wing rooms. We love the monorail as well, but at WL, you are so close to CR, you could just hop on the tender to the CR, and jump on the monorail there. That's what we will be trying this year, as we love to eat at Chef Mickey's at CR every morning, and we're just not too worried about the monorail thing. Good luck!!!

thanks all. I will call and see what I can get. I know its late this year but I am not sure on my dates yet - its just me and my dh who is a teacher and off from work all summer so planning last minute is easy for us. Good advice on the tower. On the WL we stayed in room 5032 and could see the castle and the monorail.

Some of the North Wing standard rooms have views of the castle, but not all of them. We had a garden wing room and loved our view of bay lake. We just walked a few feet down the hall and sat on the benches out front to watch the fireworks. If you are staying in the North Wing, I'd highly recommend a room on the ground level. You have a walk out patio and it's nice not to have to use the elevator. None of the rooms in the North Wing have balconies.

I called. I was able to get AP rates for wing standard for 7 nights for mid august. I will keep calling for the last 2 nights (wish me luck). If I can't get it, I may stay at the poly for the last two nights. But I think I will ultimately be able to get the room. The cast member said that he was there recently in the north wing and had a garden room and walked outside and saw the fireworks - he said it was really nice. thanks all - I'll keep you posted.

We were there in '01 and had room 7031 first floor facing the Castle. We loved it, had a chance for a comp upgrade to water view but turned it down 'cause we loved being able to see the castle, fireworks, watch the monorail...pretty short walk to food court, close to the tower for the monorail.....if we had the $$$$ we'd stay there again in a heartbeat!
