CR MK View vs. Poly Garden View

So we have to cut our trip back in September b/c of work and school commitments (the calendar changed in the past 4 weeks - sob). Our 9 night stay at CSR w/ Deluxe Dining had to be cancelled. We had it paid for 100% using gift cards that were purchased through the school (which means we can't have it refunded). As we can now take a shorter trip, I have booked the CR with MK View for 4 nights. It looks incredible, and since they offered the package deals yesterday it is the same price as the Poly Garden View room (not available in our package timeframe but bookable at rack rate). I really want the CR MK View. Dh is skeptical of the "feel" of the resort. I've told him I'm not blowing that much cash again for a 5 day trip so we'd better be sure we like where we're staying. Has anyone ever stayed at both options and can offer feedback?

the CR is fine. the higher the better. (get 10th floor or higher if you can).

wishes from your own room - well it is pretty wonderful.

with a garden view at the Polyn - you might have gotten the marina area.

It depends on the room, but since the CR is taller, I feel it has better views of the castle IF you get one of the higher floor rooms in the main tower. The Poly is only 3 floors high, but it still can offer some good views.

We have stayed at both and truthfully, I prefer the Poly. DH and I just don't care for the whole set up of the Contemporary, themeing, etc. Although we did have a castle view one year, it was terrific. But that was when our kids were really little (4 and 2 or something like that). For just the two of us, it isn't the end of the world.

I have done both and would pick the CR - HANDS DOWN!

That said, I know there are alot of Poly fans out there - personally, I just don't get it - but that's just me.

One comment I will make is that overall the CR is a much more frenetic hotel - busy, busy, busy - whereas the Poly seemed more laid back once you left the GCH. You can not really hear any noise once you are in your room at the CR, however. Just something to consider when making your choice.

I have to say, that MK Tower room just blew me away...

CR Theme Park View. I would have stayed here for my October trip but Disney lost my ressie along with my deposit But oh well life goes on & I am going to the WL Club level instead

I would go with the Contemporary Magic Kingdom View because over there you get a full view of the Magic Kingdom and at the Polynesian it would just be a view of Cinderella's Castle.

We loved both! The Contemporary was a lot of fun and we loved sitting on our balcony at night and watching the fireworks. We even liked listening to Mickey Mouse in the elevators. My husband can't wait to return to the Poly; it was beautiful. They are both great and don't forget to consider the Epcot resorts.

Decisions, decisions - they are just so hard!

The Contemporary got rid of the character voices in the elevators a few years ago.

I have stayed at both but I haven't stayed at the CR in a long time...
I think an MK view at the CR would be really awesome I LOVE the Poly a lot but you mentioned that you "really want the CR MK View", so I think you should go for it! Good luck.

also: The CR rooms have all been redone recently (of course, so have those at the Poly) and I think the "feel" there is changing and has a more high-end buzz to it. I do not think you'd be disappointed.
