if this is a DVC - then the top 2 floors (making it a 15 story instead of 16) will be the GV.

now I have never wanted to stay in a GV.

but the top two floors if they can guaranteed a MK view - boy, I might consider it....

anyone else?

Perfect for a trip with extended family! My parents and brother have been wanting to do a trip with us, so this would be the one! As little kids, we went when there was only MK...and the Poly and CR. We always stayed at the Poly. I know my brother would turn back into a 7 year old boy if he stayed at the CR. I mean, the monorail goes THROUGH the flippin' building! :rotfl: :rotfl2: Boy, did we get a huge thrill out of that as kids! (Ok, I still do! :cheer2:  )

Spiceycat, have you read anything that indicates that there will only be one grand villa, and that it will be located on the top floor? Or are you just speculating? If you have, can you send us a link?

my DB FIL has the plans - he is getting a bid ready for the steel.

he say that the entire floors 15 & 16 - were 3-bedroom units. so the building will only have 15 floors.

one thing I did ask about - is there anyway that guests can go to the roof to see the fireworks - he say 'NO"

 Are you serious?! Can he xerox those plans and slip them to you??? I would love to stay in a CRV grand villa... :cloud9:

Would probably be one of the best locations in all of WDW (do you think they have a big skylight in the Cinderella Castle suite to watch the fireworks? )

You know, orginally I had no intererst in a DVC resort at Contempory. But the more I think about the location to Magic Kingdom and the views, the more I am thinking about wanting to buy points there too!

What you are describing are penthouse units! I couldn't even begin to imagine how many points it would take to stay there during Christmas thru New Years Eve! :scared1:

Interesting....and, to me, makes it seem more likely this is DVC construction. How many 3 bedroom suites are there on property that DON'T belong to DVC? I thought even most of the presidential's are 2....

oh forgot the connection walkway is moving.

probably so we can't be there to watch the fireworks....:goodvibes

anyone else disappointed that there is not something on top of the resort to watch fireworks?

If there were, it would be hard to keep it just to the DVC guests. So no, it wouldn't disappoint me.

But it would be helpful to pump the Wishes soundtrack into the rooms during the fireworks! :thumbsup2

Uh...NO!!

If there were it is a sure thing all kinds of people would be trying to get up there to watch the fireworks. Soon there would be be posts on the Strategies board on how to do it. Followed by posts on how they aren't hurting anyone by sitting on an empty roof so their kids could get a good view. Folks would go up there earlier in the day with a picnic supper and camp out waiting for the fireworks. The poor folks on the top floor would have to put up with people walking over their heads (or outside their windows). Nope, better to leave that one alone.

Security!;) Move along folks, nothing to see here.

Seriously, with the world we live in; i'd like to see the guards being somewhat more diligent with allowing non-guests cars parking close to the structures. Especially if they incorporate a parking garage/deck.

jmho, those who visit for dinner, activities, etc. should be required to valet or have self-parking in a satellite lot & complimentary shuttle. Realize it's inconvenient and just a small deterent - do think it will alleviate congestion and provide some protection.

I hate to spoil anybody's fun, but if this turns out to be a dual-use structure, there's a good chance the upper floors will go to the cash suites rather than DVC. All the more reason to hope we get it all to ourselves!

they are on the 4th floor and connects to the CR. it is surrounding by windows - so the views of the fireworks would probably be great.

but it probably has a weight limit - so moving - so no one can stand around there.

you know I though so too - but as pilferk mentions - Disney doesn't seem to do 3-bedroom suites. those definitely seem to be GV.

now 2-bedroom suites with a room attached to make it 3 - yes. but a straight 3-bedroom suites. No.

of course, they could now be seeing a need for a 3-bedroom suites and that is why they are doing it.
