A question occurred to me only because it interests me on a personal level: I am going to be in merchandise. Do merchandise roles include the ability to represent pin trading with guests? I think that would be a fun type of interaction. Or would this be something entitled to permanent employees only?

Awww nuts. I knew VP's probably wouldn't do it anyways but it woulda seemed so fun to pin trade.

There are many roles that do pin trading. So unless it poses a risk, the role could be involved. Besides merchandise and character attendant, custodial can (I didn't when I was in restrooms though), certain attractions positions can, among others

Custodial, Attractions, Bus Greeters, Park Greeters (only if you are the super greeter), also pin trade. I'm not sure if PhotoPass pin trades or not.

QSFB and FSFB do pin trading as well, did it on my last program. :)

I can't think of any attractions that do pin trading? I don't think I've seen any. What attraction do it?

When I was in QSFB, we brought out a pin board near the registers. We were not allowed to wear lanyards, even as cashiers, due to the whole possibility of the lanyard or pins falling into a guests food. I've seen the same thing done at some FSFB locations as well as Front Desk/Concierge areas. I think a lot of it is location specific though, especially when it comes to food and beverage.

As far as attractions, I've never seen it, but I'm sure it's possible for CM's that work the shows - Lights, Motors, Action! and the like..

I'm a park greeter and we do not pin trade unless we're out for crowd control, which 95% of the time there is not someone out there (I'm at Epcot)

My daughter did pin trading both at Mission Space and Tree of Life. At Soarin' she can only wear the pins in certain roles.

Most positions won't do any trading. However, usually Greeter-type positions will be involved with pin trading (we have 2-3 normal positions, plus any tasking positions, that can pin trade at GMR).

Ohh, yay! I got accepted into merchandise as well. I'm excited about the pin trading!
