I was put on a CPAP machine in January - not for sleep apnea per say - but rather I have a narrow airway (I am also an asthmactic) and my blood oxygen levels were going into the 80's at night.

At home I am using it everynight - but am going away this weekend (1 night) and can't decide if I should bring it with me (it is portable and has a case for it). The asthma is under control (Advair, Singular) so I'm debating it. IF I go on the cruise next year and still need it - I will definitely bring it with me.

When we had a blackout a month ago, I couldn't use it - and just felt a bit more tired in the morning than usual (before the machine I would get so tired I would fall asleep at work once or twice a day).

Any thoughts ? :)

My dd is 11 and has been on cpap for three years , she has a very narrow air way, due to birth defect. She gets very tired and cranky if she goes without her cpap for one night. Sometimes we let her but the doctor told me not to from now on.. I would try to to take it ,drs don't like you to do without them.

I would take it. O2 in the 80s kills brain cells...plus you want all your energy for the trip!

You don't want your blood Oxygen in the 80's not only is it dangerous it will make you very tired and have headaches the next day and you don't want that on a big Disney day. I am sure you want all of the energy you can possibley get so I say take it and have fun :-)

It's not even a question. I travel all the time and have used a CPAP machine for the past 4 years. There is no way I won't travel with it. You have to take it. It is a medical necessity.

Okay -- I will bring it with me ... with an extension cord.

Just going to New Hampshire to visit some cruise friends so I was hoping not to have to bring it with me (even though I know have too).

If you are travelling with anybody else, be kind of to them and bring it! One time my DH did not bring his CPAP on a trip (he joined me later in my business trip) and oh! the snoring! I was so mad at him! (not sure if you make sounds when you sleep).
We even bring it camping! (obviously we must have an electrical hookup at the camp site)
