CP too young for my children?

Hi everyone,

We're heading to Disney at the end of August. I'm very happy with my ADR's except for one that I am questioning a bit. Our very first ADR is for the CP for dinner on the night of our arrival. After reading everyone's input on CP I'm wondering if it might be too young an atmosphere for my childrens ( DS 15, DD 12 and DS 9 ) What do you think? I'm happy that I was able to reserve a restaurant in MK since this is where we're heading as soon as we arrive. Any other suggestions for a TS dinner at MK more suitable to my group?

I think your children will enjoy CP. No one is too old for characters! CP has a good buffet, so everyone should find food that they will enjoy. They can interact as little or as much as they wish with the characters, when they come to your table. I think it would be a wonderful first meal at MK!

Yes, it may be a little loud: it comes with the architecture of the building as well as all the families with children old and young. But you are going to have a hard time finding ANY restaurant in any park that is quiet! And you will also note a lot of diners who are adults only!

You could go to Tony's or one of the monorail hotel restaurants too. Tony's is okay but if you want something more grown-up you can always do Citrico's in the Grand Floridian or CG in the Contemporary.

IMHO would keep CP. You are right in the park and the food is pretty good for a buffet. It is what you make of it. If you don't want to interact with the characters you can limit your interaction and they get it an move on. What do your kids want to do?

I couldn't have said it better. Obviously, you want theme park atmosphere with this meal so CP is a good choice. Liberty Tree Tavern no longer has characters but still has atmosphere. CP provides a wide assortment of food, though.

Don't second guess yourself. I'm sure your selection is a good one.

Heck, we're all adults and we do CP dinner every trip! The food quality is good for a buffet (much better than Chef Mickey's) and now and then I just have to get a pic with Pooh............

Can't beat being right in the MK for Wishes or MSEP or even a few rides or shows right after dinner. Being in the park sure beats having to slog back to MK after we eat, and we've done that lots of times too after the Wave, Kona Cafe, and others.

I would keep it if you've never been. When I was 14 and a freshman in high school, my family (my huge 30+ people family, we were there for a reunion, so lots of younger cousins) had breakfast at Crystal Palace. I actually enjoyed it, it was my only character dining experience since I never did that as a younger kid.

You could also go over to California Grill for dinner...it's amazing and the view is great.

If you like the Pooh characters, not at all. It's charming inside. I've seen adult only tables as well as families of all ages inside. We like their b/fast.

Our family loves CP (DD 19 and 13) - both my DH and I enjoy it as well, but we are big Pooh fans and love the character interaction there as well as the food. I'd say keep the reservation - its nice to eat inside the MK - I think your kids will enjoy it. If you are looking for an alternative though, Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary would be a good choice!

We love CP-even my DS-16 still asks to go there. Although we haven't done dinner in a few years, we like bfast alot. You can get great pictures when your sitting outside with the castle behind you-waiting to be called for your ADR.
