I'm a campus rep. :)

I tried to PM you, but got a message that your box is full!

Hi Joanna, how are you? I'm reading these boards (again), because my son is interested in applying for a CP for January 2010, so I guess the spring semester. I'm wondering how this will work as far as not being in college full time, how it affects financial aid, if there are any credits that will be accepted by his school? I know my best bet is for him to discuss it with his advisor or careers at his school, but I'm wondering if there is any info you can share with me. I do think we "spoke" awhile back, but he put this opportunity on the back burner so we haven't really been paying attention to the boards or the process lately.

He will get his associates in Hotel/Resort Management this December, so he was thinking Jan would be the best and most "comfortable" time for him to do the CP, and I think I agree. He's not sure he wants to continue for a BA, so taking the break and doing the CP might be best for him.

If he does the CP in the Spring 2010 semester, does he have to continue to be enrolled in full time college courses, or can he do the CP not knowing if he's going back to school the following Fall semester? How will this effect $$$? Do we have to pay for the CP if he's not enrolled in college at the time he attends the CP? Is it better that he waits until he starts school this Fall to attend a CP presentation, or is it better to do the online presentation and appy online in August? Am I correct that students can start applying in August for the Spring 2010 semester?

Any and all info you can provide is very much appreciated. Have a good night.

If he already graduated with his AA and has not started on a Bachelors yet then he would not be connected to any school during his CP. He would apply through the college he is graduating from, but he'd have no need for Financial Aid or credits since he's not considered a student anymore.

Nope - as long as he's a student when he applies he can graduate then do the CP afterwards without taking any courses. It wouldn't affect $$$ since he's not eligible for fin aid following graduation.

Pay for the CP? The CP is essentially free (beyond rent and the acceptance fee). Are you referring to tuition? If he's not in school, there would be no tuition to pay.

I'd recommend watching the presentation in August then applying - he can then attend the presentation later on to get more information. Yep - He can apply in August for the spring program.

Ack, sorry! My computer has been acting up lately. So I haven't been able to empty it.

Brenna did a great job answering the questions. :)
