i was able to book CP for 8:00 am for two separate mornings for my upcoming trip. Both days currently have a 9 am park opening. My concern is historically the earliest ADR is 8:05, but I got 8:00. I rechecked just to make sure this was correct. Do you think this indicates possible 8 am park openings? I got screwed last November with what was suppose to be a pre-park ADR.

I sure hope not! I have an 8:25 at CP one of my MK days and so far the calendar says park opening at 9. I know they can change it later, but hoping they stick with what's posted online! Otherwise, no point in having an 8:25 CP breakfast.

1) Very possible.
2) I guess you will find out for certain as your dates come closer.
3) Don't know how you "got screwed", since you still had an early ADR.

I had an 8:15 pre-opening ADR for CP. Less than a week before my trip they changed MK to an 8:00 am opening. They didn't let me in early for my empty park pics as I had to do rope drop and I also was eating a meal for the first hour of the park instead of riding.

8am ADRs seem to be the norm now, so I would say it's not indicative of a possible time change. However, given their recent track record of changing park openings, it is something to worry about in general. Fridays seem less likely to change, but that doesn't mean much either. It's very frustrating!

I have an 8:05 reservation in August, and I've decided that if they change the park opening time to 8:00 I will probably just cancel and try to get a later breakfast, or even lunch. The whole reason for us to do a reservation that early is to be in the park early.

1) Why?
2) What is the draw?
. . . There are no rides open.
. . . There is nothing special to see or do.

OK Rusty I realize you "live" at Disney World and none of this is a big deal to you. So let me explain it in your way. Quite frankly I find some of your postings lately to be a little more snarky than helpful.

1) The "draw" is getting into the park before rope drop happens. My children think it's special and that counts for something.
2) We like to walk down a less crowded Main Street when we come in. We don't get to see it every day.
3) When we have early breakfast at CP we usually walk out before 9:00, beating the masses of people at RD trying to get down Main Street.
.....that may not be "special" for you to see, but at crowded times like August (the only time we can go) it's special to us.
...we know rides aren't open at 8:00 (hopefully we're about to eat breakfast), but we can get a lot done right at 9:00.

That is all.

I think it is possible, but I wouldn't concern yourself too much yet, 8am ADRs are available still for 9am openings. We had it happen to us in December and we ended up just dumping the ADR.

Disney doesn't consider ADRs to be for empty park pictures, they consider them to be for eating at a restaurant, so they will likely adjust their park hours as they see fit whether or not someone has an early ADR. I don't think their intent is to screw you out of the reason for making the ADR because they're assuming you made it because you want to eat breakfast, and you'll still get the breakfast. that may be what Rusty is trying to convey.

As to whether or not they will adjust the time for your future date, there's no way to know that yet. It's likely if it is an extra high traffic time, but if it's not, you can probably just wait and see and that's all.

Isaboo hit the nail on the head with this:
