CP/PI to Full-time Job?

I was wondering, what are the chances of moving from internship to full-time? Especially for a PI?

Well, I can say it's very easy. However, it may not be the full time job you want. I was a PI in College Housing. During my internship I went through the Leadership Casting Call interview process for Resorts and was fortunate to make it. The Leadership Casting Call creates a pool of candidates (across all of WDW, for all Cast Members) that are deemed qualified/capable of becoming a leader. It is very competitive and many do not make it the first time, even Cast Members with 10 years. Those who complete a Management Internship are automatically placed in this pool if approved by their leader. They too have to secure employment after their program to stay eligible.

When my internship was over, I needed to find a job within the Company to stay eligible for leadership. The only available full-time role available was Housekeeping at the All-Star and I did that for almost three months. Taking that role oddly helped me get into resort management and helped me get to my current role in Marketing. If you are in a PI, you will be having weekly meetings with your leader, make sure they know your plans. Upon completion of your internship, there is no guarantee of placement. They may keep you on a Temporary Assignment (TA) for a few months, but in the end, you have network, apply, and interview just like everyone else.

It's tough, but welcome to the business world...

CP has very little to do with getting FT. Most of the roles that CPs participate in are within the contractual union, so when it comes to getting full time Disney has to follow the seniority union rules.

So why do the CP? It gives you the initial experience of working for Disney so you can test whether you like it, it includes a housing option, provides learning/class opportunities to help get college credits.

If you are just interested in getting FT, and the CP benefits above do not interest you, then I would just apply straight to the CP.

As for the PI - FT, it really depends on the department. There are some departments that only hire PIs, so after your program there is no option for FT. Other feed directly into TA or FT opportunities. PIs are typically in more professional areas, meaning the union rules do not apply to hiring, they can select the most qualified individual.

Having done a CP can increase your chances of getting a PI.

I did both the CP and PI, ultimately my experiences in both helped me to secure my current role in Management.

Thank you both so much! I'm hoping to do the CP and then I PI, but I also applied for a PI so we'll see where that goes.

This was really helpful! :D
