CP for the first time and I need your help please

Hello to all,
we are going for the first for Thanksgiving in 2 weeks!
yay! but I'm trying to save some money this time because Christmas is so close
I already have a reservation for dinner with the CP package and I was thinking of getting the DDP for one night to cover it since we have a split stay. I just wanted your opinion if it is really necessary to get the dinner package. We are planning on paying OOP for the meals that we do either using the DVC or AP discounts vs getting the TIW this time. I read that some people just listen to it while eating by the pavilion if they don't get in. Using two DP dinners to cover the package seems extreme to me when we could do another one of our favorite dinners. We are going to be there the whole weekend after Thanksgiving staying at the BW and BC

To me, the package is worth it - but I don't like standing in long lines and you'd almost certainly have to do that to have even a shot at getting in over the very busy Thanksgiving weekend. That will be especially true for the more popular celebrity narrators and Gary Sinise & Neil Patrick Harris are definitely among the most popular. Even the package people line up early for them, LOL. There might not even be any dinner packages left for those two at this point.

It's true that you can probably sit or stand in the area in front of the American Pavilion to hear the presentation. But people will be walking by, talking, etc. and you will not get the full effect.

My advice is to get the package if attending the CP is important to you. It's my DH's and my favorite Christmas event and while I hate that the price keeps going up, it's still worth it to me. Getting the deluxe dining plan for one night is a good way to pay for it - 2 credits for the CP dinner and 1 credit left for another table service meal plus the snacks and mug.

I have listened to the same narrator from inside the theater, and form back in front of the American Pavillion. I think there's definitely a difference and much better inside the theater. I hope you enjoy the show as much as we do. We have always seen the program twice each year,nand we do get the package.

I am doing the DlxDP for one day for one day - 2 credits for CP dinner package and 1 credit for Minnie's dinner at HS. I really enjoy the CP, and just don't get the same feeling watching from the back, as the PP said. Since I purchased the DlxDP for the one night (split stay also!), I splurged and booked the package at Les Chefs. Guarantees I will get my $$ worth from the plan
