CP costs

This is probably a stupid question and I could potentially do the research myself, but i'm lazy right now. But anyway, in college I was never able to do the CP because my school didn't offer it (which is sad bc Disney is only an hour away) but I will be graduating early, in december, and will need something to do before law school in the fall. So I was just wondering how much it cost to do the Disney CP in the spring semester. Like is there a tuition? How much do the apartments cost? How much do you usually spend? Do you make money, or would I have to get a job on the side too?

And a totally unrelated note, kind of. Do you know of any PI's that you can do without doing the CP first?

I think applications open for the program beginning in January in September.

There is no tuition fee, however, a one time, non refundable $300 housing/acceptance fee is put in place in order to accept and reserve your spot. I'm pretty sure this pays for housing for the first two weeks of your program as well.

Housing costs anywhere between about $85-$105/week. They take it directly out of your paycheck so you never even see it. It varies depending on which complex (Chatham, Vista, or Patterson) and how many people in your apartment (2, 4, 6, or 8). It's VERY nice housing though in a gated community with 24/7 security, bus transportation anywhere you need to go, big walk-in closets, pools, everything.

I usually made about $160-$220/week after housing (depending on how many hours I got... I got between 38-48ishish). I would put $100 into savings and spend the rest on fun, food, and bills (I had a car). You CAN definitely make money on the program, you just have to be careful and pay attention to where it's all going.

There are a lot of PIs you can do without the CP first. Go to the website. Basically, they're all available to you unless it specifically states "Alumni Only." At Disney, Alumni means you "graduated" from the CP.

Hope this answers most of your questions! And welcome to the Disney club! I'm in the process of writing about the CP on a blog found here: DCPDocumenter.blogspot.com

I'll be adding more in the next couple of weeks, but hopefully that can answer some questions you have as well. :) Good luck! :cool1:

The housing fee doesn't cover your first two weeks of tuition. The housing fee pays for all the activities that they put on and a few other things. Your first two weeks of rent come out of your first paycheck(which is your first two weeks of work, mostly training though). It's good to go down with 300-400 dollars to cover the costs of food and other things you need to buy for your apartment for those first few weeks.

I believe that for the cp at disneyland they do have a fee where you have to pay the first few weeks of rent up front, but that is because their housing is super limited compared to at wdw.

TaiGirl87, that's how it used to be when the housing fee was $100 (my first two programs it was only $100). But then they moved the fee up to $300 dollars and rumor has been that it's because so many students were going down there and staying like a week and getting kicked out and Disney would never get the money for their housing/rent. So now they're charging it early.

Why else would they suddenly tack on an extra $200 fee? Inflation's not that bad... (I'm not saying you're wrong, necessarily, I'm just saying it doesn't make sense)

I guess I just forgot how much I paid for my housing fee.

The change makes sense, better than having two weeks rent taken out of your first paycheck, that was not fun!
