CP Breakfast, opening hours and rope drop

We've decided to book CP for breakfast on our first morning (a previous post inspired us). A couple of questions if you don't mind....

First of all - im predicting (based on last August's opening hours) that the MK will open at 9am. I'd want to book CP for as close to 8am as I can. BUT!!! I really, really, REALLY want to watch rope drop.

How do you get to CP before park opens?

Can you get back to the area you watch the train arrive?

An hour will be long enough for breakfast right - ???

If you finish breakfast early - can you walk around the park until rope drop?

One of the turnstiles will be open. You will have to give the CM your name/ADR number to be allowed into the park early.

Technically, yes - but that would mean exiting the park.

An hour will be long enough for breakfast right - ???

Maybe. Depending on what time of year you go, you might not be seated right away or may have to wait a while for all the characters to get around to your table.

If you finish breakfast early - can you walk around the park until rope drop? No - you will be held near the castle. However, nothing beats getting pics on an almost-empty Main Street USA.

Not really, because the opening ceremony is on the 'outside' side of the train station you can't see anything from inside the park. I don't suppose there is anything to stop you having your hand stamped, leaving the park and then going back in again but I'm not sure you would get a good spot to watch the ceremony.

The earlist ADR is 8.05am

The opening show is 8.50 (always a bit before park opening to let people funnel down main street and the 9am rope drop is in the hub.

If you want to see the opening show don't do the ADR - save that for another day.

We prefere to watch the opening show than have an ADR at CP on our first morning.

Can I chip in?

I had exactly your dilemma for first morning! CP or opening show.

I chose opening show and booked 8.05 CP for a morning later in the trip.

We slept through our alarm for that one as we were on FL time by then! As you need to be at the bus stop by like 7.30 latest!!

For opening show though you can be an hour later.

Do CP first morning and then opening show another day. You will be grateful of the extra hour!! And on your first morning you'll be itching to leave an hour earlier then normal opening time if you;re anything like me with jetlag!!
