Hey,

Looking for your BEST Cozumel experiences. We are already doing Dolphins at a different port and a private beach...so, we are looking for something else.

Was thinking of doing Fury Catamaran & Beach Break...
Would love to do some good snorkeling...
Interested in seeing a ship wreck...
Also considering Everybody Love's Rays (heard they are de-barbed...like that idea...any thoughts on this vs. the option at Castaway Cay)...
Other possibilities...Amazing Cozumel Race, Chankanaab National Park

We are a family of four...2 boys ages 8 and 5...excellent swimmers and comfortable in the water!

Love to hear your thoughts/experiences!

THANKS

sorry it won't let me post the link until I have at least 10 posts
so this one should do it.

We made our own excursion in Cozumel. Just past the shops there in the port we took a taxi to The Money Bar. They offered everything our group was looking for: food, drinks, snorkeling, beach time. They will rent you snorkeling gear or you can bring your own. The water was cool because it was March when we were there but it was still a great time. If you go I would recommend bringing/wearing water socks. Some of the rocks were sharp.

We plan to return to the Money Bar when we cruise there in June 2014
Here's our reviews we posted on Trip Advisor:

I have not done Everybody Loves Rays, but I have done the ray adventure on Castaway Cay. The rays in Castaway Cay are also de-barbed. We absolutely loved the ray adventure on Castaway Cay and would definitely recommend it!

When I was in Cozumel, we did a Tequila seminar and tasting. We absolutely loved it! But since you're traveling with kids, I don't think that's something you'd be interested in!

I've never done the Fury Catamaran myself, but I've heard tons of excellent reviews! It is what I plan on trying out the next time I'm on Cozumel!

We did Chankanaab National Park on our own last summer and LOVED it. I didn't think anything could compare to Castaway Cay for me, but this was nice. We just lounged on the beach, but there is snorkeling and a dolphin encounter.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Fury catamaran snorkeling and beach party excursion. Right after we set off, the bar was opened, and it was endless margaritas, beer, and soft drinks (included in the tour price). The snorkeling was like swimming in a salt water aquarium, with tropical fishes swimming by your side. The beach activities included use of the kayaks and stand up paddle boards. Even the catamaran ride from the ship to the reef, and then the beach, and then back, was fun.

We did Everybody Loves Rays and really enjoyed it! My kids, 4, 6 and 8 all really loved it. It was a lot of fun, the staff was so nice and I thought reasonably priced!

We really enjoyed the Beach Break at Playa Mia. It was all inclusive. They had a really cute water park for little kids, water slides for adults, paddle boats, a "wipe-out" like inflatable that you swim out to, not to mention the beach and pools, which had nice tile loungers . The open bar was great (they made non-alcoholic drinks for kids), the lunch buffet wasn't so great but we were full from breakfast on the ship, and they had all you can eat ice cream. They even had a piñata for the kids towards the end of our visit filled with Mexican candy. Can't wait to go back.

Just back and did playa mia. Like op said it was fun. Very clean and the people were nice. You could also pay when u get there. Check out their website. I did the mexican cuisine where we made a meal and then had a few hours to play. Drinks included. They had open air massage for a $1 a min. The kids area was next to a nice pool and an unheated jacuzzie. Lots to do on the beach. Chairs and umbrellas included. Bathroom had an attendant and very clean. Some shops as u exited with some pretty good deals. Nothing priced. They liked to bargain.

We just did the secret river. I'm not sure what the age requirement is, but if your 5 year old is comfortable in water and adventurous it was one of our favorite excursions that we have done (Our youngest was 7 and did fine). When our youngest was 5 we found that we could book some excursions privately that DCL wouldn't allow you to book for kids under 6. Sometimes we would be on the exact same tour as the people who had booked through DCL (and had paid considerably less…).

Gosh...thanks everyone! Sounds like there are so many awesome options...how does one decide?! We are now thinking of trying the Pirate Snorkel adventure through ShoreTrips...any one have any experience?!

Couple questions about this excursion. Was it only people from Disney on the boat or also from other ships? Did you think it was overcrowded?

We went to Fly High Zipline Adventures in Cozumel. Booked it on our own since it is not yet offered by Disney. It is located just past Chankanaab. We took a taxi there, had a great zipline tour, then as part of our tour we got to spend the rest of the day enjoying a day pass at the El Cid la Cieba resort, complete with all kinds of coupons and freebies at the resort. The El Cid was responsible for developing the zipline park, and they have further expansion of the park in their plans. I wasn't expecting much from the snorkeling there, but was amazed at how good it was. When we were ready to head back to the ship we went to the hotel desk and they called our cab and sent us on our way, cabs were all included in our package. I'm not sure about the ages for the kids on the ziplines though, since we didn't have kids with us. We really had a great day, and felt very safe the whole time. The zips were well constructed and maintained, and the staff took great care of us, as did the staff at the El Cid.

We rented a jeep and did our own tour. We had what my husband refers to as the best day of his life doing that excursion.

Do you remember how much this cost?

We are thinking of doing the Dolphin Swim. I am still trying to read up on the reviews and see if we should book through Disney or try and do it on our own. Has anyone ever booked excursions on their own and have any suggestions? TIA.
