Hi, all! We are planning our first DCL adventure and we're so excitied! All of the Western Caribbean ports are totally new to us, including Cozumel. We are interested in the Jose Cuervo Tequila tasting and lunch which ends at about 1:30 in the afternoon. I'm torn because hey, we're in Cozumel, shouldn't we spend time outside enjoying the beach and gulf? If there is a convenient beach we can visit after our tour, our problem is solved. It doesn't have to be the best beach on the island, just an hour or two of decent beach will fit the bill! Time and budget are short here so we have to be able to walk of take a very short, cheap taxi ride.

Suggestions? Thanks!

There isn't what I would call a beach walkable from the ship pier. The area is primarily tidal walls and rocks. Taxi would be best in terms of time and ease. Proabbly a bunch of threads on the topic. There are other chances to enjoy beaches at other ports of call too.

Taxis to the main beaches are easy to get from the pier, with posted rates, so no haggling.

I suggest you don't do the Cuervo tour.. Jose Cuervo is the bud light of tequilas. Its awful. Life's too short to waste it on bad tequila/wine/food/movies/books/etc.

You're better off going to a good restaurant on the main avenue and drink tequila there. I suggest "palmeras" restaurant which is in front of the water taxi pier, a 10-15 min walk from the cruise terminal. They have excellent tequila there (herradura, cazadores, tapatio, etc) and great food too.

Then go to Mr Sancho which is an all inclusive place with a nice pool. you pay a fee (I think it was $50pp last time we went) and can use the beach there which is very pretty. food and drinks are included. food is OK not great but still, its a good deal.

A taxi from the pier to MrSancho is about $10-15 each way including tip.

In Cozumel we lingered on the ship awhile and enjoyed the pools with less crowds, then took a quick taxi to a beach with a pool. I can’t remember the name and think it was one of the crew members who told us about it. It had a small fee to enter but was clean with good service and WiFi/ showers/ etc. There appeared to be several places like that. There were several tourist shops and restaurants at the port.

The least expensive beach we have done one Cozumel: Paradise beach is about $5 to enter and a taxi ride away. I think we paid about $20 for a taxi for 4 one way. If you want food and/or drink, obviously you have to pay more. And if you want to use their huge inflatables on the water it is about $20/ person. We just paid the $5 and swam for about 2 hours and left.
