Thinking about doing a beach day at Cozumel but thought 5 hours at the beach may be a bit much for the little ones, we are traveling with me, grandparents and 3 little ones (9, 6 and 5) but saw this excursion and looks really fun.

Do you recommend this for little ones? would the ruins and chocolate show be too boring for my 6 and 5 yr olds?

Do you notice mosquitos at the ruins and chocolate factory? i heard there's a huge mosquitos problem there?

any info/advice is much appreciated!

I took my 9 year old to the ruins and chocolate thing in October. She liked the ruins because she likes history and the tour guide was fabulous and included the kids as helpers when he demonstrated things. The chocolate show was pretty short and was more of a shopping stop. I don't think most 5 and 6 year olds would really like either as it is a lot of just listening. It depends on your kids though. I don't remember the mosquitoes being bad, but it could have been the time of year and we did slather on the mosquito repellent that DCL provided.

I went in Nov with 5 and 10yo boys. They thought the ruins were sort of blah, liked the chocolate show, loved playa mia. Our tour guide Patricio was excellent. We didn't notice any mosquitos but we did have repellent.

I did this excursion last May - we were all adults, but there were definitely kids on the tour. The tour of the ruins isn't too long, the chocolate show was good, I think kids would like it and the beach was great. I don't really remember a mosquito problem either, but I think I did where bug repellent.

My DD and DH did the Tulum Ruins and didn't mention mosquitoes, but that was 10+ years ago. The only thing they talked about were the gigantic webs with the gigantic spiders -- so just be careful where you walk (they were usually in shadowy areas between buildings). They absolutely loved it though and would do it again. Their excursion did not include a chocolate factory, so maybe they either changed it or you are going to different ruins. They also mentioned that it was relentlessly hot, so bring sunscreen, a hat and lots of water.

Thank you all for the great info, i went ahead and booked the Ruins, Chocolate and Beach Break! so excited about the up coming cruise this summer! I will be sure to have my kids wear bug repellent

Definitely take the bug spray to the Ruins. We are South Floridians and acclimated to mosquito bites, but when we were at the ruins in October, there were some EXTRA LARGE ones flying around. It wasn't terrible, but there were a few in our group who were getting bit. I think my husband and I had higher blood alcohol levels from the continuous beverages flowing, so we didn't get bit. (Seriously, it helps.) Cheers to bug spray and beer. Haha!

yes, we are back now, we ended up doing the ruins, chocolate factory and beach day, I didnt think my girls would be ok at the beach for 5-6 hours, so pick the ruins to kind of break things up... the ruins was fine, it was hot and TONS of moquitos, but it was nice to let the girls hear the history (but they were bored most of the time), then the chocolate factory demo was fun, but they didnt like the tasting as it was bitter chocolate, the beach resort was right next to the factory, and they had a GREAT pool/water playground as well, so the girls never made it to the beach and stayed at the pool/water playground the rest of the time, they LOVED it!
