Cozumel Excursion Question

Looking for advice.... Im going on a 7day western in September and was comparing doing the Jeep Excursion on Cozumel day or Cozumel Ruins & Beach tour. I like the idea and excitement of the jeeps but i was wondering for any of you who have done this excursion if you actually get to get out and walk around the ruins they take you too. I really want to see the ruins because ive never been in the area.

What do you guys think?
Which would be better?

oh and there are only two of us. My 40 year old mother and me 17 turning 18 on the cruise...

DH and I are on the Western for September 22nd and have this excursion booked. The few reviews I've read on it have been very good. But I have never heard anything mentioned about the ruins. I'm not putting much into that part of the tour. I'm sure it is nothing like Tulum. I would probably go to Tulum if your main interest is in the ruins.
