I have read many posts about the Dophin Experience and I still have a few questions:rolleyes:

1. If we book the 1020 excursion with DCL--I am guessing that they will give us taxi vouchers or something to get to Chakanaab Park and our Experience will start around 1100..right??? How do we get back and at what time?

Can we stay at the park as long as we want or do we have to return at a specific time??

2. I have a DD6 and a DS4 that want to do the experience...do we need 2 adults or can my husband go with both of them??

3. My DD10 wants to do the swim and I will probably go with her on that. But we have to book that one directly. Can all 5 of us travel to Chakanaab together or will my DH and the younger ones have to go with the DCL excursion group and we will have to meet them there?

I hope I am making sense about all of this. I am just trying to work out some of the details.

My mother will be joining us at Chakanaab but doesn;t want to get in the water with the Dolphins and doesn't want to travel by herself in a cab. We would love to be able to all travel to the park together..have dad go with the younger ones on the dophin experience while mom does the swim with the older DD and grandma can watch. Then all spend the afternoon at the park and head back to do some shopping together. Any thoughts on this one???

Thanks for your help. THis is the greatest site!!!

MNmom-
We have the10:20 Dolphin experience booked for our upcoming cruise. My 10 year old twins are going to do it. We were told that in order to ride over with them, one adult would also have to pay for the excursion. My friend is going to do it with her DS, so my kids will go over with her, then we are planning on taking a cab over to meet them.

I am also interested in knowing if they HAVE to go back at a certain time, or can choose to stay longer, and get back with a cab at our expense.

Wondering if there's anyway you can do this excursion on your own? I know many excursions can, but not sure about this one.

We went to Chankanaab Park last Fall and had a wonderful time!! It's a place to spend the whole day.

We went shopping first thing in the morning when the stores first opened. That was a good idea! We heard from many people that it was sooooooooo crowded by afternoon. Then we took a cab over to Chankanaab Park and spent the rest of the day. At the end of the day, we headed back to the ship.

There will be many cabs waiting for you everywhere! No shortage of them.

Just a thought..you might save money doing it on your own as well. :Pinkbounc

Have a great time whatever you do! We loved that place!

1. All transportation is provided. Everything is handled by the park and they do a very good job. They meet you on the ship, walk you out to the taxi stop, get you into the taxi and give the driver the voucher. At the end, they put you in a taxi at the front of the park (where you were dropped off) and the same procedure - they will see you into the taxi, and give them the voucher to take you back to the ship.

You can stay at the park as long as you like (if you go early). If you have an excursion late in the day, you may be limited in the amount of extra time you can stay. But, they schedule to arrive at the park about 45 minutes before your time to get in the water, so you have some time before to go in the water or roam around.

2. I think you can do it with one adult. You go into the water on a platform and your husband can stand in the middle of them. However, we did this a few months ago with our daughter who is 6, and the water on the platform was about neck-high. I'd question if your 4 year old will be tall enough to stand on the platform or if your husband will have to be carrying him.

3. I think you will have to travel separately. The vouchers are only provided for the excursions and at your specified time as they take you over in a group and it is all cookie-cutter as far as the coordination. You can book the other excursions directly at the park, however, you'll then have to pay for taxi, admission to the park, and the excursion separately. I don't think there is much savings doing it on your own.

For the price, the "experience" was worth it in my mind. It was not a swim, but, then again, the price was not in the same ballpark as the swim. We spoke with other folks who did the swim with the sea lions excursion also at the park, and they enjoyed it enormously.

I just booked the Dolphin Swim on my own for next August, 1 adult and 2 children. It was $119.00 per person and I was shocked that we couldn't get our first choice of time for 12:00 noon because the time slot was already filled up completely. We were able to get the 2:00 p.m. swim. They only take 8 people per time slot, so if you want to book the Swim rather than the encounter, remember to do it early.

Thanks everyone for your great info. It really helps to make decisions when you have an idea of how it all works.

Only now I have another problem...

My DD10 chickened out of the Dophin Swim so it looks like myself, DH, DD10, DD7 and DS4 will do the DOlphin Encounter through DCL....WHAT DO I DO WITH MY MOTHER???

She does not want to get in the water but she wants to watch everyone and spend the day at Chakanaab park with us after the encounter. She also does not want to have to take a taxi alone in Mexico:confused:
