Cozumel Dolphin Discovery

Some questions about logistics of this...

I don't have an interest in the Dolphins personally, but my 5 year old son wants to do this. I will also be cruising w/ my mom...is it possible for us to buy my son this excursion, and just watch him w/o paying the excursion fee for us (aside of park and taxi fare). I would like to go to the park, of course, and might have to hold my son while he touches the Dolphins (based on the descriptions on the other thread on this subject) but I don't want to have a turn myself.

Does anyone know how this works? Would there be any problem if I just bought my son a ticket and planned on paying for park admission for myself and my mom when we got to the park?

We did this excursion in March. It was wonderful, we loved it. But the water is kind of deep for a 5 year old, I think you would have to hold him the whole time. The water was chest high on us adults. I don't know if they would let you into the water without paying for the event.
