Cozumel beaches

We are hoping to take a taxi to the beach in Cozumel, but we are having a hard time selecting a location. Does anyone have any suggestions based on past experience? Here is what we are looking for:
- a place that offers chairs/umbrellas for rent
- sandy beach so our son can dig/make castles
- access to food & drink
- shore snorkeling would be a bonus (we are bringing our own snorkel gear)

Any ideas would be appreciated!

We went to Paradise Beach a few years ago. I think it would meet all your criteria. The taxi ride to and from was easy and inexpensive.

I second Paradise Beach. It also has a huge pool and the cleanest bathrooms you have ever seen!

The POOL is beautiful-if you end up with rough surf or seaweed you can always use the pool.
It is reasonably priced-we are not looking for an "all you can eat and drink" experience. It is just a few dollars for admission and you can order food/drink from your
assigned waiter all day. The food is really quite good.
There has never been any difficulty finding a place to sit. We usually arrive early.
It might not be everyone's cup of tea but it is perfect for us.

I forgot about the pool, it is great! I went back and looked at my spreadsheet for our 2013 cruise and we spent $115 on our day at Paradise Beach for our family of 5. That includes taxi service to and from, lounge chair and umbrella rental, food and drinks. Obviously, you can spend more, but I thought that was a great price for a day at the beach.

We did Nachi Cocum last year - we had a great time. It was relatively inexpensive, all you could eat and drink and they limit the number of people who can go on any given day. The beach wasn't amazing and the pool was small but we all had an amazing time. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the bigger places but it was perfect for us.

A place with good sand for digging and making castles will almost certainly not have shore snorkeling. We also love Paradise Beach and they meet 2 and possibly 3 of your criteria in that they include chairs and umbrellas in their $3 admission price and have food/drink access (I think it's a $10 minimum purchase required). They also have sand to dig in, but it's very coarse and I'm not sure it would work for making castles. They don't have shore snorkeling. You can snorkel, but there won't be much of anything to see there. I absolutely agree with others that they have the cleanest bathrooms - up to Disney standards, I'd say (at least for Mexico).

We just did Chankanaab this Dec. and loved it.

Approx $20 per person (get a coupon from their website). $15 taxi ride each way. $10 per person snorkel gear (say you saw a discount on the internet). They had lockers for your gear and provided life vests.

They had a pool (we had it all to ourselves). They had a sea lion show for the kids. You can pay extra for a dolphin experience.

But for us we wanted to try snorkeling. We didn't do well snorkeling on Castaway Cay the previous year and Chankanaab was the trick. You see the beach drops right off into deep water. So you go over to a ledge/landing and put your gear on and walk down steps right into the water. Easy peasy! They had a little floating dock and some submerged statues, and plenty of fish.

Now I am guessing that this is beginners level snorkeling. But for us with our 2 boys (12-9) this was perfect. After 1 hour we went to the empty pool. It had a walk up bar in it. Also the park had a full restaurant. But we didn't eat (who can eat with all of the food waiting for you on the ship?)

They had a nice beach, lounge chairs, and the beach wasn't crowded.

They had a shop for souvenirs and snacks plus you can get your pic if you wanted it.

The staff was super friendly.


We are debating going somewhere else this year to mix it up but our next cruise isn't until Dec so we got time.

Went to Mr. Sancho's in 2012 and had a great time. Good food, great drinks, the beach was pristine (this was before the great seaweed invasion) and the teens enjoyed it. Mr. Sancho's seems to have a reputation as a loud, spring-break party kind of vibe, but that wasn't the case when we went.

I'm planning on a Sept 2016 cruise to Cozumel with just my wife and I and may try Nachi Cocom this time. It's billed as a quiet getaway as they only allow 100 people a day, but I'm hoping it's not *too* laid back. I hope they at least have some ambient music to help create the Mexican/Caribbean beach atmosphere and not just abject silence as though someone happened to open a library along the beach.

I have been to chankanaab & don't think the beach is very good. The pool, sea lions, Dolphins, snorkeling, and faculties are good but I wouldn't go there if you are looking for a place to hang out on a beach all day. The only real beach there is a tiny lagoon area that even my young kids thought was pretty lame. There is a lot of sand near the snorkeling area, but no beach - there is a rock wall at the water line & you have to walk down stairs to enter the water.

We have been to Nachi Cocum twice with our family. We find the price to be reasonable and after being on the ship, I love how uncrowded and quiet it is there since they limit it to 100 people. Service is always great and the food is good!

Paradise Beach has sandy beach, chairs and umbrellas, and waiters that bring food/drink. As a previous poster said, you technically could snorkel there but I don't think you would see much.

We've been to Paradise Beach twice because we love the inflatables, our kids have an absolute blast on them. They usually have at least 6 different ones set up - climbing, sliding, jumping pillow, floating mats, etc. They also have kayaks, SUPboards, and a great pool. However I do not recommend eating the salsa there, my husband and son were quite ill after our visit there in January and we believe it was PB's salsa. This is not going to prevent us from returning to PB next time we're in Cozumel, but we won't be eating fresh fruits or veggies. Which in my opinion is a smart practice in Mexico in general (my husband has become a believer now as well).

One more hint - bring towels from the ship as they are not provided there. Also the price has increased, it's still $3 per person for pool or beach chairs but an additional $18 for in the "fun pass" which allows you to use the water activities.

We are headed to Cozumel in October 2016. My husband and I will be traveling with our 6 year old and 4 year old. I was going to book Nachi Cocum because the inflatable water toys will be too challenging for our little ones and we really just want a nice beach area with calm water to swim in. Neither of us drink alcohol either so the "all you can drink" isn't a draw. Which place would you recommend based on our kids ages? Nachi, Paradise or Mr Sanchos? I'm so confused...

We were at Nachi Cocum with our 4 year old and she loved the beach, the food, and the pool. I took her in the ocean when my wife got a massage, and her and my wife took naps while I rented a Sea Doo. It was great

That's where I'm leaning--honestly when my boys are older I'm guessing Paradise or Mr Sanchos will be the bet choice but at their ages I'm thinking beach, ocean and pool are best! Did you find rentals to be super expensive? We are debating wave runner rental!

Mr. Sanchos all-inclusive was awesome!!! Gorgeous beach, huge pool, plenty of tables and chairs, and the most amazing food and service that we have ever had on any beach!!!!
