Hi again,

Has anybody been on the Cozumel beach break DCL organised trip? I have booked it for the whole family as we are first time cruisers but I'm now wondering if it's worth the money.

We have kids ranging in age from 3-13 with us so thought sounded like a great stop for them with the pool/slides etc.

Thank you.

I very briefly looked into this, as we are hoping to go on the WBPC in 2017. It seems to currently be around a $30 markup per person if you go through DCL than booking directly through the locale.

Other than peace of mind (won't get left behind), what else is included in that extra cost? Maybe there were taxes/gratuities/other fees I missed?

Logistics/cost aside, we will definitely be doing this, should our trip take place. My DS will be 4 at the time, and the water park, coupled with the beach, is right up his alley. Guessing he won't want to sit at Senor Frogs all day, the way I did the last time I visited Cozumel when I was young and stupid, er, carefree! :)

If it's the Playa Mia beach, we did that last year and had a great time. There were only 3 of us, DS was 8, and there was plenty to keep us busy. His favourite was the inflatable water park or total wipeout course as he described it. He was in stitches watching mum fall in, many times! They also did a piñata bash on the beach for the kids before lunch. The food was fine for a light lunch and a good selection of drinks throughout the day included. After lunch DS and I rode the slides while DH had a "proper " swim. We also used the pools, there is a kids one with small slides, squirt ears etc and a standard pool for swimming.
If we wanted another beach break on Cozumel, we would definitely go back.

We did this and thought it was just okay (and wouldn't do it again).

The beach isn't all that great as far as beaches go IMO. Even though it's on the ocean, it seemed more like a lagoon (or salt water lake) and lacked the crystal blue water that you hope for in the Carribbean (out in the ocean, they have a floating obstacle course which looks like more fun than it actually is).

The water park is mostly geared for kids ages 10 and under. However, there are two larger water slides that are geared more toward teens and adults.

The lunch buffet was pretty underwhelming (and not nearly as good as the lunch buffet on the ship or the lunch served on Castaway Cay).

Overall, a really good place for kids 10 and under but not so much for anyone else (IMO).

i thought it was great. just got back about a month ago - we had a great time there. I have gone 2 times total and would go back again. I prefer to relax on vacation and soak up the sun - this was great. The drinks were good and were plentiful and the lunch was ok - but it was a lunch and I didn't starve. I liked the ability to do the ocean then go over to the fresh water pools and get that sand off of me.
I would go back again in a heart beat. I highly recommend it.
We were scheduled for the first trip out. Our tour was to leave about 3 hours before the ship was to leave - so we choose to rent a cab and go back to port. We stayed on the beach for 3 hours longer and it cost us $25 for a cab back with a generous tip. If you have a family - this would ensure a full day of fun, sun, etc. You're sure to get your monies worth.
