Hi has anyone done this recently? I'm looking for reviews, advice and prices for things other than the cost of the excursion. Like massages, cabanas, souvenirs and common tipping

That beach club is Playa Mia. I did a cooking class excursion there once and the food in the class that you cooked was good but I did get to look at the standard buffet and it looked terrible. Check out some YouTube videos to see for yourself. If you just want a beach break I would take a taxi to Paradise Beach Club. All the food is included and is ordered off of a menu. Same thing with drinks. I thought it was well worth the price. They even brought us food and drink and served it to us in the pool. Here are some photos of us getting lunch. I would pick Paradise Beach Club any day over Playa Mia.

That does also look lovely. It looks like Playa Mia might have a little more for kids and I would rather book through Disney since this is our first time out of the country and I'm the responsible adult. Butmybe next time though.

Playa Mia was very much crowded with kids to the point I was pretty uncomfortable. It also just seemed much more of a "concrete jungle" rather than a relaxing beach break. There was a serious lack of shade and trees. Playa Mia has lots of contracts with cruise ships so when ships are in port Playa Mia is just packed. Cozumel is very easy to navigate via taxi. The other reason I am not a fan of the cruise excursion is they start herding folks on buses back to the port way too early. You aren't getting all the time that you paid for.

We did it a year ago and enjoyed it. My dd was 13 yrs old at the time. She enjoyed the water trampoline and inflatable climbing thing. You have to swim out to them, so if you have really young kids it would be too difficult for them. They also had other things like kayaks. It's a nice beach, the food was good, and the restrooms/changing area was nice and clean. There were a lot of people there, but your excursion group will have its own section of beach. We didn't get to use the water park. They were restricting how many ships could use(just after cruises had started due to covid), I don't know if they have opened up the Waterpark now or not. I would go there again.
