Coyotes

The past 2 nights around 3 AM, a band of coyotes have been running through the woods by our house. They are so loud - yipping and howling - what an eerie sound. Once they wake me up, I have trouble going back to sleep and yet I don't want to close our windows (we'll have to do that soon enough!).

We keep our 3 cats indoors all of the time ever since one never came back home (we're assuming coyotes or some other wild animal was involved). Anyone else ever hear them or other wild animals near your house?

Here at my mom's house, every night we hear the coyotes. We actually have been hearing baby coyotes lately - that's really weird to hear!

Yes, we had them around our house. The sound is very eerie. The first time I ever heard them it sent chills down my spine. Just be careful with your pets. On two occasions my neighbor had one approach her and her daughter during the day while outside. They came within a few feet of them and just stared, but it was enough to scare the heck out of the neighbors. I think I'd pee my pants if I ran into a coyote like that.
